Abstrak :
Skripsi ini membahas mengenai konsep frame dan framing pada konteks ruang publik yang bersifat non-place. Proses framing akan selalu menghasilkan frame. Terdapat tiga mekanisme framing, yaitu framing oleh user, framing oleh desainer dan framing oleh user yang berinteraksi dengan karya desainer. Ketiga mekanisme tersebut dapat menjelaskan bahwa framing dapat mengubah non-place menjadi place melalui mekanisme terbentuknya identitas dan relasi frame. Studi kasus dilakukan melalui pengamatan langsung dan tidak langsung yang menghasilkan temuan bahwa mekanisme framing berpotensi dalam merubah non-place menjadi place dengan dua ketentuan. Pertama, subjek harus merupakan user yang berinteraksi dengan karya desainer agar menghasilkan frame dengan relasi yang bersifat“melekat” sehingga menghasilkan keterikatan interior antara user dengan ruang. Kedua, identitas user atau site harus dapat didefinisikan. Poin kedua dapat ditunjukan dengan user yang melepaskan identitas anonimnya menjadi identitas dirinya masing-masing atau frame yang dapat memberikan citra yang ikonik bagi site.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses the concept of frame and framing within the context of non-place. The framing process generates frames through three mechanisms, namely framing by the user, framing by the designer and framing by the user who interacts with the work of the designer. These three mechanisms allow the framing to transform non-place into place through the mechanism of identity formation and frame relation. The case studies were conducted based on direct and indirect observation. The results indicate that the framing mechanism has the potential to transform non-places into places with two conditions. First, the subject should perform as the user interacting with the work of the designer in order to create an attachment between user and space. Second, the identity of the user or site should be clearly defined. This point can be indicated by the user releasing his anonymous identity into their respective identities or the frames that can provide an iconic image for the site.
