"Malaysia is currently focusing on providing affordable housing all over the country as part of the plan to tackle the problem of rising costs of house ownership due to several reasons such as economic crisis and land limitations. However, there is a limited number of methodical study made on the residents’ feedback towards the indoor environment of an affordable housing. Indoor environmental quality (IEQ) is an important aspect of occupants’ wellbeing as it will affect their health and productivity. Thus, it is a paramount step in evaluating the residents’ feedback towards IEQ to serve as an indicator of building performance and condition. Additionally, the health and productivity of the residents should be evaluated in order to identify the effect of IEQ towards the occupants. The questionnaire survey is used in order to achieve the objectives and to gain the access to the respondents’ views and feedbacks. The pilot questionnaire study was conducted at two apartments in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the data collected were evaluated and analyzed using the SPSS Software. The outcome of this pilot study is significant as it shows the residents dissatisfaction level towards IEQ factors such as noise, glare, and privacy, and the aspects of IEQ that are important such as ventilation. Additionally, it has been found that the IEQ of the residents does affect the health and productivity of the occupants. It is anticipated that the outcome of this study will serve as an indicator of building performance improvements to achieve a better quality of the indoor environment for affordable housing in Malaysia."

Natural disasters in Indonesia are increasing and have impacts on the loss of housing and livelihood for the victims. As an effort for future disaster risk reduction, RISHA housing technology is the Government's solution for resettlement. The lack of consideration of post-disaster livelihood in the resettlement programs has resulted in the emergence of the housing adjustment phenomenon, which also indicates housing deficit. Until now, evaluation of resident’s satisfaction toward RISHA housing in Indonesia has not been carried out empirically, so it might fail to see the real needs of the community. This study aims to assess the level of satisfaction of RISHA housing and identify their housing adjustment in it, linked to strategies for improving livelihood. A questionnaire survey of 232 respondents resulted in a satisfaction level of 69.70% (moderate), while through observation and in-depth interviews it concluded that housing adjustment is strategies for residents to overcome housing deficit and rebuild livelihood. These findings could be considered in reviewing post-disaster housing provision policies and their status as grant assets for the victims. Housing adjustment in RISHA requires Government’s assistance and support as part of efforts to restore the community's livelihood after resettlement."
