"[ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang. Gangguan fungsi kognitif dapat terjadi pada pekerja yang terpajan toluen. Gangguan fungsi kognitif tersebut terutama adalah penurunan memori, atensi dan konsentrasi, yang dapat menurunkan produktifitas kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui prevalensi gangguan fungsi kognitif dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi Metode Penelitian. Desain potong lintang dilakukan pada 102 orang pekerja perempuan usia 19-40 tahun dan pendidikan minimal SMA. Data dikumpulkan dengan kuesioner, pemeriksaan fisik dan laboratorium serta MMSE. Kriteria inklusi adalah masa kerja ≥ 1 tahun dan bersedia menjadi responden dengan menandatangani informed consent. Kriteria eksklusi adalah hamil, menstruasi,merokok, minum alkohol, riwayat cedera kepala, hipertensi, gula darah dan dislipidemia. Faktor risiko yang diteliti antara lain umur, status perkawinan, masa kerja, lama kerja, kepatuhan pakai masker , stres kerja dan status gizi. Umur, status perkawinan,masa kerja dan lama kerja diambil dari data HRD. Status gizi didapatkan dari perhitungan Indeks Massa Tubuh. Kepatuhan pakai masker berdasarkan pengawasan kepatuhan APD. Stres kerja dinilai menggunakan kuesioner Survey Diagnostik Stress . Hasil. Walaupun kadar toluen didapat lebih kecil dari nilai ambang batas toluen , didapatkan prevalensi gangguan fungsi kognitif sebesar 52 %. Area kognitif yang menurun adalah atensi kalkulasi dan visuospasial. Faktor risiko yang secara bermakna mempengaruhi gangguan fungsi kognitif adalah masa kerja, lama kerja, kepatuhan pemakaian masker, stres kerja yang meliputi konflik peran, ketaksaan peran, beban kerja kualitatif, beban kerja kuantitatif, pengembangan karir dan tanggung jawab rekan kerja. Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan konflik peran merupakan faktor risiko yang paling mempengaruhi gangguan fungsi kognitif ( OR 7,546 Interval kepercayaan 95% 1,5 ? 41,88 ) Kesimpulan. Prevalensi penurunan fungsi kognitif studi ini lebih besar dari penelitian sebelumnya dan teori. Aspek kognitif yang menurun didominasi oleh atensi kalkulasi dan visuospasial. Konflik peran merupakan faktor risiko yang paling mempengaruhi gangguan fungsi kognitif.

This study aims to calculate the prevalence of Cognitive Function impairment and related risk factors Method. Cross sectional design study was conducted on 102 female workers, age 19-40 years old and graduated from senior high school. Age and education were obtained from secondary data, and followed by interviews, physical and laboratory examination and Mini Mental States Examination. The inclusion criteria were age ≥ 1 year of work and willing to be the subject of research. Exclusion criteria were pregnancy, menstruation, smoker, Alcohol consumption, history of head injury, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and Dyslipidemia. Risk factor included in this study were age, marital status, duration of work,time of work, PPE obedience ,work stress and nutritional status. Age, Marital status, Duration and Time of work were from secondary data of HRD department. Nutritional status was obtained from body mass index calculation. face mask obedience was obtained from data of wearing mask compliance. Work stress was assessed using Survey Diagnostic Stress Questionnaire. Results. The prevalence of Cognitive Function Impairment was 52 % , mainly at Attention ? "ABSTRAK
Latar belakang: Gangguan fungsi kognitif merupakan salah satu defisit neurologis kedua tersering setelah sakit kepala pada tumor intrakranial. Gangguan fungsi kognitif yang paling sering terjadi pada tumor otak adalah gangguan fungsi eksekutif. Penilaian fungsi kognitif sebelum dilakukan operasi maupun radioterapi penting sebagai data dasar klinis pasien.
Tujuan: Mendapatkan informasi mengenai penilaian fungsi kognitif sebelum dilakukan operasi maupun radioterapi sebagai data dasar klinis pasien.
Metode: Disain penelitian ialah survei potong lintang dengan pengambilan sampel secara konsekutif. Data diperoleh dari Divisi Fungsi Luhur Poliklinik saraf dan Departemen Rekam Medis RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo periode Januari 2009-Maret 2016. Subjek penelitian berusia 18-65 tahun dan telah terdiagnosis tumor otak, memiliki hasil histopatologi, serta telah menjalani pemeriksaan fungsi luhur preoperatif.
Hasil: Terdapat 77 subjek penelitian dengan proporsi subjek laki-laki (50,6%) dan perempuan (49,4%) hampir sama, terbanyak berusia 40 tahun ke atas (67,5%), serta berpendidikan terutama 12 tahun ke atas (61%). Glioma (46,7%) dan meningioma (63,2%) merupakan dua tumor otak primer terbanyak, sedangkan paru (34,4%) dan payudara (18,8%) adalah asal metastasis otak terbanyak. Hampir semua subjek mengalami gangguan fungsi kognitif (96,1%), terutama ranah jamak (93,2%). Ranah memori dan fungsi eksekutif merupakan dua ranah yang paling sering terganggu. Proporsinya semua metastasis dan 80% tumor otak primer mengalami gangguan memori. Sebesar 77,5% tumor primer dan 89,7% metastasis otak mengalami gangguan fungsi eksekutif.
Kesimpulan: Hampir semua fungsi kognitif pada tumor otak primer dan metastasis terganggu, tetapi gangguan pada metastasis otak lebih berat. Ranah jamak merupakan ranah yang paling banyak terganggu, terutama memori dan fungsi eksekutif.

ABSTRACT
Aim: To obtain information about cognitive assessment before surgery and radiotherapy.
Methods: This study was a cross-sectional retrospective study using consecutive sampling. Data obtained from neurobehavior division of Neurology Clinic and Medical Record Department of Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital started at January 2009 to April 2016. Subjects, aged 18 to 65 years old, diagnosed brain tumors, had histopatologic data, and done cognitive exam before surgery.
Results: There were 77 subjects, with no notable difference in gender proportion (50,6% male subjects and 49,4% female subjects). All were aged 40 years old above (67,5%) and had education level not lower than 12 years (61%). Glioma (46,7%) and meningioma (63,2%) are two most common primary brain tumors, whilst lungs (34,4%) and breast (18,8%) are two most major brain metastasis origin. Most subjects had cognitive impairments (96,1%), predominantly multidomain (93,2%). Of all domain, memory and executive function are mostly affected. All metastasis, and 80% primary brain tumor had memory impairment and 77,5% primary brain tumor and 89,7% brain metastasis had executive impairment.
Conclusion: Almost all cognitive domain impaired in brain tumors, particularly in brain metastasis. It suggested that multiple cognitive domain impairment were majorly impaired, with memory and executive function as the most common domain."

"Karbon monoksida merupakan senyawa gas yang tidak berbau, tidak berwarna dan tidak berasa tetapi sangat beracun. Karbon monoksida terutama berasal dari asap hasil pembakaran mesin dan kendaraan bermotor. Keracunan terutama terjadi karena proses inhalasi dan melalui mekanisme hipoksia, selanjutnya dapat menimbulkan gangguan sistem saraf pusat dengan gejala gangguan neurobehavioral dan fungsi kognitif.
Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara pajanan kronis karbon monoksida dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif pada pekerja di lokasi parkir dalam gedung. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional, melibatkan 93 pekerja di lokasi parkir dalam gedung rumah sakit dan hotel di Jakarta pada tahun 2015. Pengukuran kadar karbon monoksida di udara lingkungan kerja dilakukan 1 kali menggunakan metode spektrofotometri dengan iodida pentoksida. Pengukuran kadar COHb dilakukan dengan metode kromatografi gas melalui udara CO ekshalasi, sedangkan fungsi kognitif dinilai menggunakan kuesioner Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Prevalensi gangguan fungsi kognitif pada populasi pekerja di lokasi parkir dalam gedung 22,58%. Gangguan fungsi kognitif memiliki hubungan bermakna (p<0,05) berturut-turut dengan kadar CO ruang (ORcr=4,28; 95% CI = 1,15-15,86), kadar COHb (ORcr=6,5; 95% CI = 2,21-19,10) dan kebiasaan merokok (ORcr=6,81; 95% CI = 1,98-23,42).
Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan faktor risiko utama yang berhubungan dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif adalah kadar COHb ≥5% (ORadj=4,47; 95% CI = 1,23-16,25). Disimpulkan pajanan kronis CO di udara lingkungan kerja dapat menimbulkan gangguan fungsi kognitif yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar COHb dalam darah. Kebiasaan merokok merupakan faktor perancu utama, karena dapat secara langsung meningkatkan kadar COHb dalam darah dan menimbulkan gangguan fungsi kognitif melalui mekanisme kerusakan sel syaraf. Pemerintah perlu menyusun regulasi terkait pembangunan fasilitas parkir dalam gedung untuk menjamin kesehatan dan keselamatan pekerja.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, nonirritating, odorless and tasteless gas. The most important human-made source of CO arises from the exhaust of automobiles. Carbon monoxide chronic intoxication mostly occurs from an inhalation process and can cause brain damage due to its sensitivity over hypoxia, and leads to various neural defects including neurobehavioral and cognitive function disturbance.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between chronic CO exposure and cognitive function among basement parking lot workers. This study used a cross-sectional design, involving 93 people age 20-40 years who work in a hospital or hotel basement parking lot in Jakarta on 2015. Carbon monoxide air levels in workplace were measured using iodine pentoxidespectrophotometric method, while COHb levels were measured once using Gas Chromatography through a CO exhalation procedure. Cognitive function was determined using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) questionnaire.
Study result showed the CO air levels were all below threshold limit value (TLV) of 29 mg/m3. The prevalence of impaired cognitive function among basement parking lot workers was 22,58%. Carbon monoxide air levels, COHb levels and smoking habit factors were statistically significant related to impaired cognitive function, with ORcr 4.28 (95% CI = 1,15-15,86); ORcr 6.5 (95% CI = 2,21-19,10); and ORcr 6.81(95% CI = 1,98-23,42). Logistic regression method shows COHb levels is the only predictive factor of cognitive function with ORadj 4.47 (95% CI = 1,23-16,25). Therefore, it is concluded that chronic exposure of CO in the air workplace can cause cognitive function impairment, marked by a significant increase of COHb levels. Smoking habit is the main confounding factor, for it can directly increase COHb levels and impair cognitive function. Government should establish a punctual and effective regulation on how to build a basement parking lot facility regarding the safety of the workers."

Latar Belakang: Pencapaian target glikemik pada pasien DM tipe2 yang masih rendah khususnya di Indonesia mengakibatkan berbagai komplikasi termasuk gangguan fungsi kognitif.. Padahal untuk menerapkan manajemen mandiri pada pasien DM, dibutuhkan fungsi kognitif yang kompleks. Pada berbagai penyakit kronis, fungsi kognitif khususnya domain memori yang buruk telah dihubungkan dengan ketidakpatuhan penggunaan obat. Meskipun demikian, belum ada studi yang mencari hubungan keduanya pada pasien DM tipe 2.
Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan gangguan fungsi kognitif dengan ketidakpatuhan penggunaan obat pada pasien DM tipe 2
Metodologi: Desain studi ini adalah potong lintang terhadap 96 subjek penelitian dengan DM tipe 2 berusia >18 tahun di unit rawat jalan RSUD Tebet. Karakteristik demografi, parameter klinis, penilaian fungsi kognitif, dan kepatuhan penggunaan obat didokumentasikan secara lengkap. Penilaian fungsi kognitif menggunakan Montreal Cognitive Assessment versi Indonesia (MoCA-Ina). Penilaian kepatuhan penggunaan obat dinilai menggunakan penghitungan pil. Studi ini menggunakan analisis distribusi frekuensi dan proporsi, analisis bivariat dengan uji Chi-Square.
Hasil: Terdapat 69,8% subjek penelitian dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif dengan faktor tingkat pendidikan sebagai faktor yang mempengaruhi. Analisa mendapatkan kejadian penurunan fungsi domain memori 96,9%;, eksekutif 78%, visuospasial 78%; atensi 30%; bahasa 26%; dan orientasi 4,2%. Ketidakpatuhan penggunaan obat didapatkan pada 26% subjek penelitian. Analisa bivariat tidak menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara gangguan fungsi kognitif dengan ketidakpatuhan penggunaan obat (OR 0,757 95% CI [0,280-2,051] p=0,58).
Kesimpulan: Gangguan fungsi kognitif didapatkan pada 69,8% pasien DM tipe 2, dan ketidakpatuhan ditemukan pada 26% pasien. Tidak ada hubungan yang didapatkan antara gangguan fungsi kognitif dengan ketidakpatuhan penggunaan obat pada pasien DM tipe 2

ABSTRACT
Background: Poor glycemic control in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients, especially in Indonesia, results in a variety of complications including a cognitive impairment. In fact, to implement self-management in DM patients, intact cognitive function is necessary. In a variety of chronic diseases, cognitive impairment, especially the memory domain has been associated with medication nonadherence. Nonetheless, no studies have looked for the relationship between the two in type 2 DM patients
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of cognitive impairment with medication nonadherence in type 2 DM patients.
Methodology: The design of this study was cross-sectional with 96 study subjects with type 2 DM, > 18 years old in the outpatient unit at RSUD Tebet. Demographic characteristics, clinical parameters, cognitive function assessment, and medication adherence use were fully documented. Cognitive function assessed with the Indonesian version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-Ina). Medication adherence was assessed using pill count. This study uses the analysis of frequency and proportions distribution, and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test.
Results: There were 69.8% of the research subjects with cognitive impairment with education level as an associated factor. Analysis of the occurrence of impairment of the function of memory domain 96.9%; executive 78%, visuospatial 78%; attention 30%; language 26%; and 4.2% orientation. Oraal medication nonadherence was found in 26% of the study subjects. Bivariate analysis did not show an association between cognitive impairment and medication nonadherence (OR 0.757 95% CI [0.280-2.051] p=0.58).
Conclusion: Cognitive impairment was found in 69.8% Type 2 DM patients, and medication nonadherence was found in 26% patients. Cognitive impairment was not associated with medication nonadherence in type 2 DM patients.

"Latar belakang: Pekerjaan dengan pola kerja gilir, khususnya yang irregular, dapat mengganggu irama sirkadian dan kualitas tidur yang kemudian berdampak pada fungsi kognitif. Meskipun penting, penelitian tentang kerentanan domain kognitif terkait pola kerja gilir masih terbatas. Kualitas tidur dan fungsi kognitif menjadi kritis dalam konteks pelayanan kesehatan di rumah sakit, di mana keputusan dan tindakan harus dilakukan dengan cepat dan tepat dalam menunjang keselamatan pasien. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan potong lintang untuk mengetahui hubungan pola kerja gilir dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif. Untuk mengukur kualitas tidur, digunakan Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index bahasa Indonesia (PSQI-Ina), sementara fungsi kognitif dan domain kognitif diukur menggunakan Oxford Cognitive Screen (OCS) bahasa Indonesia (OCS-Ina), sebuah instrument kognitif untuk pasien stroke, yang sudah tervalidasi. Besar sampel minimal pada penelitian ini dihitung dengan rumus Slovin berjumlah 72 sampel. Korelasi, analisis komponen utama,analisis demografi dan regresi digunakan untuk mengkarakterisasi hubungan antara PSQI-Ina,OCS-Ina dan variabel penelitian lainnya. Hasil: Sebanyak 83 tenaga kesehatan masuk ke dalam kriteria inklusi dan diikutsertakan dalam penelitian. Hasil memperlihatkan sebanyak 16 responden (19,3%) mengalami gangguan fungsi kognitif pada domain Atensi serta 2 responden (2,4%) mengalami gangguan di 2 domain kognitif (Atensi dan Pengelolaan Angka). kesejahteraan.
......Background: Irregularities in shift work, especially those marked by unpredictability, can disrupt circadian rhythms and compromise sleep quality, consequently adversely affecting cognitive function. Despite its pivotal significance, there is a shortage of research on the susceptibility of cognitive domains associated with irregular shift work. The connection between sleep quality and cognitive function becomes especially crucial in the healthcare service domain, particularly within the confines of hospitals. In such environments, where decisions and actions require swift and accurate execution, the interplay between sleep quality and cognitive function is critical to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. Methods: The objective of this research is to conduct an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design, aiming to examine the correlation between shift work patterns and cognitive function impairment. The study utilizes the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index in Bahasa Indonesia (PSQI-Ina) to measure sleep quality. Cognitive function and cognitive domains are assessed using the Indonesian Oxford Cognitive Screen (OCS-Ina), a validated cognitive instrument for stroke patients. The minimum sample size for the research was determined, resulting in a calculated sample size of 72 participants. Correlation analysis, principal component analysis, demographic analysis, and regression analysis are employed to characterize the relationships between PSQI-Ina, OCS-Ina, and other relevant research variables. Results: A total of 83 healthcare workers meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Results indicated that 16 respondents (19.3%) experienced cognitive function impairment in the Attention domain, and 2 respondents (2.4%) experienced impairment in two cognitive domains (Attention and Number). Healthcare workers engaged in secondary employment were found to have a 12.8 times higher risk of experiencing cognitive impairment (OR 12.8; CI 95% 1.7-91; p = 0.011). Similarly, healthcare workers with poor sleep quality (PSQI score >5) faced a 40.3 times higher risk of cognitive impairment (OR 40.3; CI 95% 2.2-708.1; p = 0.011). Likewise, healthcare workers working in irregular shift patterns had a 5.4 times higher risk of experiencing cognitive impairment (OR 5.4; CI 95% 0.1-26.6; p = 0.036). Conclusions: There is a correlation between shift work patterns and cognitive function impairment in the workplace. Hospitals should prioritize ergonomic shift work schedules, emphasizing speed and clockwise rotations, to support the well-being of their healthcare workers."

Latar belakang dan tujuan: Gangguan fungsi kognitif, mulai dari gangguan ringan hingga demensia, yang prevalensinya semakin meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan angka harapan hidup, akan mempengaruhi kualitas hidup seseorang. Hingga saat ini, minimnya pemanfaatan pemeriksaan patologi untuk menegakkan diagnosis definitif menjadikan pemeriksaan fungsi luhur sebagai pemeriksaan baku emas dengan angka sensitivitas dan spesifisitas yang baik. Seiring kemajuan teknologi kedokteran, MRI kepala mulai digunakan secara luas untuk menilai proses neurodenegeratif dan patologi vaskular otak yang berkorelasi kuat dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif. Penilaian temuan kelainan dengan metode skala pengukuran visual yang menggabungkan temuan atrofi dan lesi vaskular terbukti memberikan hasil yang baik dalam penegakkan diagnosis dan prediksi prognosis gangguan fungsi kognitif. Titik potong baku dan valid untuk menegakkan diagnosis dan memprediksi adanya gangguan fungsi kognitif perlu diteliti untuk meningkatkan peran MRI kepala dalam penilaian fungsi kognitif.Metode: Uji deskriptif dengan pendekatan potong lintang untuk mengetahui nilai titik potong skor atrofi serebri, skor lesi substansia alba, dan skor infark serebri pada pasien dengan demensia dan gangguan fungsi kognitif ringan. Pemeriksaan dilakukan berdasarkan data pemeriksaan fungsi kognitif dan MRI kepala terhadap 76 subjek penelitian dalam kurun waktu Januari 2014 hingga Desember 2016.Hasil: Skala pengukuran visual dapat menggambarkan perubahan struktur otak pada pasien dengan gangguan fungsi kognitif. Dengan perhitungan receiver operation curve ROC dari skor atrofi, lesi vaskular, dan skor visual gabungan pada pasien dengan demensia dan gangguan fungsi kognitif ringan didapatkan bahwa skor visual gabungan memiliki nilai akurasi diagnostik terbaik dengan nilai AUC 78,3 95 IK 68,1 -88,6 . Kemudian didapatkan titik potong skor visual gabungan sebesar 8,5 sensitivitas 55,6 , spesifisitas 82,5 dengan tingkat spesifisitas tertinggi dalam membedakan pasien dengan demensia dan gangguan fungsi kognitif ringan.Kesimpulan: Skor visual gabungan mempunyai nilai akurasi diagnostik sedang dan dapat digunakan pada praktik klinis dalam membedakan pasien dengan demensia dan gangguan fungsi kognitif ringan
ABSTRACT Background and objective Impaired cognitive function, ranging from mild impairment to dementia, whose prevalence increases with increasing life expectancy, will affects the quality of life. Until now, the lack of utilization of pathology examination to make a definitive diagnosis makes the neuropsychological screening instruments as a gold standard examination with good sensitivity and specificity. As medical technology advances, head MRIs are beginning to be widely used to assess neurodegenerative processes and brain vascular pathology that are strongly correlated with cognitive impairment. Assessing findings of abnormalities by a visual measurement scale method that combines the findings of atrophy and vascular lesions proved to provide good results in the diagnosis and prediction of cognitive function impairment prognosis. Standard and valid cutoff points for diagnosis and predicting cognitive dysfunction need to be investigated to improve the role of head MRI in cognitive function assessment. Methods A descriptive test with a cross sectional approach to determine the value of the cutoff point of cerebral atrophy, white matter lesion, and cerebral infarct score in patients with dementia and mild cognitive impairment. The examination was performed based on cognitive function and head MRI examination data on 76 subjects in the period from January 2014 to December 2016. Result The scale of visual measurements can describe changes in brain structure in patients with cognitive impairment. With the calculation of receiver operation curve ROC of atrophic scores, vascular lesions, and combined visual scores in patients with dementia and mild cognitive impairment, AUC 78.3 95 CI 68.1 88.6 was obtained with cut point cut point 8.5 with the highest level of specificity sensitivity 55.6 , specificity 82.5 in distinguishing patients with dementia and mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion The combined visual score cutoff point has a moderate diagnostic value of accuracy and can help to distinguish patients with dementia and mild cognitive impairment in clinical practice. "

"Transisi demografi di Indonesia mengubah struktur umur penduduk yang menua. Meningkatnya jumlah penduduk lansia di Indonesia berpotensi besar terhadap permasalahan kesehatan mental, salah satunya Penyakit Demensia. Demensia merupakan stadium akhir dari kemunduran fungsi kognitif, yang sebelumnya diawali dari mudah lupa dan gangguan kognitif ringan MCI . Penelitian sebelumnya di negara lain menunjukkan bahwa salah satu faktor risiko penurunan fungsi kognitif yang dapat dimodifikasi adalah keterlibatan sosial. Namun, penelitian mengenai pengaruh keterlibatan sosial pada konteks negara berkembang khususnya di Indonesia masih terbatas.
Penelitian ini mengukur pengaruh keterlibatan sosial terhadap fungsi kognitif dari 228.216 orang lansia di Indonesia berdasarkan data SUPAS 2015. Keterlibatan sosial lansia diukur melalui kegiatan sosial kemasyarakatan, mengasuh cucu, dan pasangan hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode regresi multinomial logit. Umur, jenis kelamin, pendidikan, gangguan penglihatan, gangguan pendengaran, aktivitas fisik, dan aktivitas kognitif digunakan sebagai variabel kontrol. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa keterlibatan sosial lansia berpengaruh terhadap fungsi kognitif pada lansia di Indonesia. Partisipasi lansia dalam aktivitas sosial kemasyarakatan, mengasuh cucu dan keberadaan pasangan hidup dapat mengurangi risiko gangguan fungsi kognitif MCI dan Demensia pada lansia di Indonesia.
......Demographic transition in Indonesia changes the age structure of ageing population. Increasing number of elderly population in Indonesia has big potential to mental health problem, one of them is Dementia Disease. Dementia is the final stage of cognitive decline, preceded by forgetfulness and mild cognitive impairment MCI . Evidence from previous studies in other countries suggests that one potential modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline may be social engagement. However, research that identifies the modifiable risk factors in the context of developing countries, especially in Indonesia is still scarce.
This study analyses the influence of social engagement on cognitive function of 228.216 elderly people in Indonesia from SUPAS 2015. Social engagement is measured through social activities, looking after grandchildren, and the presence of a spouse. This study uses the multinomial logistic regression method. Age, sex, education, visual impairment, hearing loss, physical and cognitive activity are used as covariates. The results suggest that social engagement influences cognitive function of elderly in Indonesia. Participation in social activities, looking after grandchildren and the presence of spouses can reduce the risk of cognitive decline, both MCI and dementia, in the elderly in Indonesia."
