"Penggunaan bahan fiber sebagai perkuatan pada struktur beton telah sering diterapkan untuk peningkatan kemampuan beton sebagai bahan bangunan dalam konstruksi bangunan teknik sipil. Pada penelitian ini akan ditinjau akibat penambahan bahan perkuatan berupa lembaran fiber yang mengandung bahan Kevlar (Renderoc FR10 pruduksi PT FOSROC) pada benda uji silinder beton dan balok beton bertulang. Pengujian yang dilakukan adalah uji tekan pada silinder dan uji lentur pada balok tipe Bernouli. Benda uji silinder dan balok tersebut akan dibebani terlebih dahulu sampai retak sebelum dilakukan dilakukan perbaikan dengan Renderoc FR10 (Kevlar) dan kemudian masing-masing benda uji akan diuji kembali untuk melihat kekuatan beton setelah perbaikan. Kekuatan beton pada dua kasus di atas akan diperbandingkan kemudian. Akan dibahas pula tentang pengaruh perbaikan yang dilakukan terhadap perilaku beton yaitu lendutan, tegangan, regangan, kekakuan, kekuatan, nilai modulus elastisitas dan nilai Poisson's Ratio. Dari hasil pengujian tampah bahwa perbaikan beton dengan Renderoc FR10 (Kevlar) ini akan meningkatkan kekakuan dan kekuatan balok pada balok. Sedangkan pada silinder akan terjadi peningkatan kuat tekannya."

"Next generation optical communication systems will have to transport a significantly increased data volume at a reduced cost per transmitted bit. To achieve these ambitious goals optimum design is crucial in combination with dynamic adaptation to actual traffic demands and improved energy efficiency. In the first part of the book the author elaborates on the design of optical transmission systems. Several methods for efficient numerical simulation are presented ranging from meta-model based optimization to parallelization techniques for solving the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Furthermore, fast analytical and semi-analytical models are described to estimate the various degradation effects occurring on the transmission line. In the second part of the book operational aspects of optical networks are investigated. Physical layer impairment-aware routing and regenerator placement are studied. Finally, it is analyzed how the energy efficiency of a multi-layer optical core network can be increased by dynamic adaptation to traffic patterns changing in the course of the day"
