Skripsi ini membahas tentang perempuan yang memutuskan untuk menjadi penampil di dalam musik metal underground sebagai upaya counter-culture terhadap sistem kebudayaan yang patriarkis. Penelitian ini menggunakan dimensi analisa culture as crime dalam kajian kriminologi budaya mengingat terdapat praktik-praktik di dalam kebudayaan metal yang dilihat sebagai praktik-praktik yang menyimpang karena dianggap tidak sesuai dengan moralitas yang ada di masyarakat dominan. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan kajian teori feminis radikal-libertarian dan feminis sosialis sebagai dasar dalam memaknai upaya yang dilakukan perempuan sebagai bentuk counter-culture. Sebuah band dengan personel keseluruhannya yang adalah perempuan menjadi subyek dalam penelitian ini, yakni Psychotic Angels. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kasus feminis dan critical social science guna memaknai keputusan perempuan untuk menjadi penampil di dalam musik metal underground sebagai upaya counter-culture. This thesis discusses about the choices that women made to be a performer in metal underground music as a way to make counter-culture to the patriarchy culture. This thesis using the culture as crime dimension analysis in cultural criminology because there are so many aspect in metal music culture that people view it as a forms of deviance that does not analogous with the dominant morality in society. This thesis also using radical-libertarian feminist and socialist feminist theory as a core to understand the way the women use to do counter-culture. The subject of this research is a full women personel band, named Psychotic Angels. Abstrak :
Majalah Aktuil terbit pertama kali pada tahun 1967 di Bandung, di prakarsai oleh anak-anak muda pecinta musik yang bercita-cita mendirikan sebuah majalah. Inspirasinya datang dari majalah-majalah musik Belanda yang beredar di Indonesia saat itu, seperti Pop Foto dan Actueel. Kedua majalah tersebut membawa ekses budaya tanding dari tulisan-tulisannya, akibat dari tren hippies yang mendunia. Akibatnya, Aktuil pun menjadi sarana budaya tanding berkembang di Indonesia. Apalagi, di Indonesia sendiri telah tumbuh jurang generasi yang datang dari perbedaan aspirasi dan kegagalan komunikasi antara anak muda dan orangtua, mirip dengan latar belakang hippies di Amerika Serikat. Aktuil, yang didirikan oleh anak muda untuk anak muda menjadi oase dalam polemik generation gap, dengan membawa sebuah budaya tanding yang membantu anak muda mendefinisikan dirinya sendiri dan lepas dari ekspektasi orangtua.
Aktuil magazine was first published in Bandung in 1967, initiated by music loving youths whose dreams were to establish a magazine. The inspiration came from Dutch music magazines which available in Indonesia at that time, such as Pop Foto and Actueel. Both magazine brought counter culture excess from their articles, influenced by hippies trend which was a big hit around the world. As a consequence, Aktuil, too, became a device for counter culture to blossom in Indonesia. Particularly because a generation gap, generated from aspiration contrariety and communication fiasco between the parents and the youths, was apparent around the nation, similar to what had happened before hippies in United States. Aktuil, made by youths for youths became an oasis in generation gap polemic by propagating counter culture which help the youths defined themselves and got out from the parents rsquo expectations.

ABSTRAK Karya Akhir ini membahas mengenai upaya sineas perempuan melalui film perempuan untuk melakukan upaya counter-culture terhadap budaya patriarkis. Karya akhir ini berusaha melihat sejarah bagaimana pemerintah Orde Baru membentuk hegemoni budaya dominan yang patriarkis melalui kebijakan, ideologi, dan media massa pada saat itu. Termasuk juga konteks perfilman nasional saat itu, yang dikekang oleh penyensoran oleh BSF (Badan Sensor Film) dan kuatnya dominasi laki-laki di dalam industri film. Setelah era Orde Baru berakhir, nilai dan norma masyarakat yang bersifat patriarkis mulai ditentang oleh kelompok feminis, termasuk oleh para sineas perempuan. Melalui film-film perempuan, upaya counter-culture terhadap budaya patriarki dilakukan. Analisa mengenai counter-culture dalam karya akhir ini dilakukan bedasarkan definisi counter-culture dari Keith A. Roberts. Melalui pemikiran Roberts, penulis menemukan bahwa counter-culture yang dilakukan oleh sineas perempuan dilakukan dengan cara menawarkan budaya alternatif, yaitu feminisme.
ABSTRACT This thesis discusses about an attempt of woman filmmakers through woman's films in order to make a counter-culture towards patriarchy. This thesis attempts to see the history of how our government in the New Order, known as 'Orde Baru', developed a dominant (which is patriarchal) culture hegemony through policies, ideology, and mass media including national films which was limited by the censors known as Badan Sensor Film? and man's domination which was strong in film industry. Feminists, including woman filmmakers, started to against the patriarchal value. The attempt of the counter-culture towards patriarchy was done through their films. The analysis is done using definition of counter-culture by Keith A. Roberts. Through Roberts? thoughts, we find that the counter-culture done by woman filmmakers is done by offering the alternative culture, which is feminism.
