"In the past decade, convergence of regional per capita income has been a frequent object of regional studies- In the case of Indonesia, research on this issue has been exploited for many years- However, differences in methods of analysis often yield different results. Further more, prior studies do not elaborate the advantages of each method. This paper will focus on this issue with stressing on searching of the appropriate methods-Rather a-convergence, we use Theil index to analyze regional disparity and found that regional convergence in Indonesia does not appear to be a simple monotonic process, but seems to vary over time -and hence requires explanation. From here, we suggest that the use of long-term interval in regression of &? convergence analysis will destroy the relationship among variables. The use of least square methods only suitable for absolute convergence analysis. We conclude that the most appropriate methods for conditional ^convergence are instrumental methods. As an alternative one, we suggest panel-data methods.We found that the convergence rate in Indonesia is slow at 2,59 percent per year over 1975-2000. With conditional convergence analysis, we found that the difference on growth rate can be explained systematically by a set of explanatory variables. The inclusion of these variables makes the convergence rate become faster which is 3.97 percent per year. Most of this variables are under controlled by government. In summary, we conclude that government policies have significant influence for rapid and sustainable regional economic growth."

"This paper attempts to portrait the journey of madrasah (religious school) during the last five years, i.e. since the enactment of Law of RI number 20 of 2003regarding the National Educational System which positions a madrasah as general school. This reposition is actually positive for the sustainability as well as improving the quality of madrasah. However, it should be noted that more than 90% of madrasah are managed by public. This means that madrasah still has to be developed according to the public requirements, not that of government. Thus, to create a policy on madrasah, it obviously is necessary to accomodate various public interests. Exactly, it is needed a harmonious and dynamics convergency between the government and the people."

"Skripsi ini membahas dinamika makna dari nilai independensi media massa dalam konteks ruang berita konvergensi Tempo. Independensi sebagai cita-cita normatif media massa menggambarkan kapasitas individu atau lembaga untuk membuat keputusan dan bertindak sesuai dengan logikanya sendiri. Namun, hadirnya teknologi internet atau layanan tertentu seperti media sosial, menciptakan lingkungan media yang sangat berbeda dengan media massa konvensional. Konsep independensi yang menjadi prinsip luhur di dunia pers kini menjadi buram relevansi konsepsinya karena dengan logika viral dan usaha optimalisasi klik, redaksi menjadi semakin sulit untuk membatasi diri dari pengaruh eksternal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplor signifikansi praktik media digital terhadap nilai independensi dan dinamika budaya di ruang berita Tempo.

This research discussed the dynamics of the meaning of independence value of the mass media in the context of Tempo convergence newsroom. Independence as a normative ideal of mass media describes the capacity of individuals or institutions to make decisions and act according to their own logics. However, the presence of internet technology or certain digital services such as social medias, create an entirely different media environment compared to the conventional mass media. The concept of independence which is a noble principle in the world of the press has now become opaque in its conceptual relevance because with the viral logics and click optimization efforts, editors have difficulty in limiting themselves from external influences. This study aimed to explore the significance of the practice of digital medias towards the independence values and cultural dynamics in Tempo newsroom."
