Abstrak :
Penelitian terhadap komposit makin menarik untuk dikaji karena karakteristik komposit yang kuat dan tahan terhadap korosi. Komposit banyak digunakan sebagai material pengganti logam yang banyak digunakan untuk pesawat terbang. Salah satu aplikasi dari komposit yang digunakan adalah sebagai material dari pesawat nirawak PUNA buatan BPPT. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan penelitian komposit dengan penguat S-glass dan matriks Epoxy. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kekuatan mekanik dari komposit. Kekuatan mekanik meliputi uji tarik dan uji tekan, serta pengamatan dengan menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscope. Dari hasil pengujian didapatkan kekuatan tarik dari komposit sebesar (412.97 + 6.71) MPa dengan regangan sebesar (3.44 + 1.40) % pada arah serat 0/90o dan (147.52 + 6.71) MPa dengan regangan sebesar (33.75 + 1.63) % pada komposit dengan arah serat 45o. sedangkan kekuatan tekan didapatkan sebesar (128.54 + 8.84) Mpa dan (84.09 + 8.84) Mpa masing-masing pada arah serat 0/90o dan 45°.
Research on composites more interesting to be studied because of the characteristic of composites that have good strength and resistant to corrosion. Composites materials widely used as a replacement for metal on the aircraft. An application of the composite is used as unnamed aerial vehicle PUNA that are being developed by BPPT. This research studied about composites with S-Glass as the reinforcement and epoxy as the matrix. The purpose of the research was to determine the mechanical strength of the composites. Mechanical strength included tensile strength and compressive strength, as well as scan using a scanning electron microscope. From the test results obtained that tensile strength of the composite is (412,97 + 6,71) MPa with a strain of (3,44 + 1,40) % at 0/90o composite fiber direction and (147,52 + 6,71) MPa with a strain of (33,75 + 1,63) % at 45o composites fiber direction. While the compressive strength obtained for (128,54 + 8,84) MPa and (84,09 + 8,84) MPa, respectively at the direction of the fiber 0/90o and 45°.

Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) have proven to be useful for a wide range of applications because of properties such as their light weight, toughness and temperature resistance. Advances in ceramic matrix composites summarises key advances and types of processing of CMCs. After an introductory chapter, the first part of the book reviews types and processing of CMCs, covering processing, properties and applications. Chapters discuss nanoceramic matric composites, silicon carbide-containing alumina nanocomposites and advances in manufacture by various infiltration techniques including heat treatments and spark plasma sintering. The second part of the book is dedicated to understanding the properties of CMCs with chapters on finite element analysis, tribology and wear and self-healing CMCs. The final part of the book examines the applications of CMCs, including those in the structural engineering, nuclear and fusion energy, turbine, metal cutting and microelectronics industries.
