ABSTRAK Huruf sebagai alat komunikasi dan berbahasa antar manusia tentu berperan penting dalam arsitektur kota terutama setrip komersial. Huruf yang diolah menjadi kata dan kemudian teks, dipasang di fasad-fasad bangunan, berpotensi menciptakan image yang menjadi identitas suatu kota. Apabila tidak memiliki urutan atau sistem yang jelas, image yang terbentuk merupakan suatu ketidakteraturan. Melihat kembali sejarah perkembangannya, bentuk huruf dipengaruhi oleh peristiwa bersejarah yang terjadi sebagai shock pada masa itu. Perancangan ini terfokus kepada imajinasi, visualisasi, serta eksplorasi potensi bentuk-bentuk huruf untuk menjadi bentuk, tektonik, dan fasad setrip komersial. Visualisasi ini merupakan skenario yang menjadi peristiwa baru untuk meningkatkan chaotic image dari setrip komersial tersebut. ......ABSTRACT Letters as means of communication and language between people indeed has an important role in city architecture, especially in commercial strips. Letters that are developed into words and then texts, used in building facades, have potential to create an image that will be the identity of the city. If they don’t have a clear order or system, the image created will be of a disorder. Looking back to the history of its development, a letter’s form is influenced by historical events that happened as a shock at that time period. This Project focused on imagination, visualization, and exploration of potential letter forms to build a commercial strip’s form, tectonic, and facade. This visualization is a scenario that becomes a new event to enhance the chaotic image of that commercial strip.
