ABSTRAK
Meskipun pembahasan mengenai alih kode sudah marak dibahas, hanya sedikit yang membahas isu budaya pada alih kode. Penelitian ini akan membahas mengenai perbedaan budaya Barat dan Indonesia melalui penggunaan alih kode pada majalah Gogirl!. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Lalita Malik 1994 mengenai alasan-alasan seseorang menggunakan alih kode. Penelitian ini akan melihat kemunculan alih kode didalam lingkup keakraban dan konsep budaya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa alih kode muncul ketika tidak adanya ketersediaan kata, tidak adanya padanan kata, ataupun untuk menekankan kata. Alasan-alasan tersebut juga menunjukan perbedaan budaya yang turut berkontribusi terhadap penggunaan alih kode pada majalah Gogirl!. Untuk pendalaman penelitian selanjutnya, pembahasan mengenai hubungan antara keakraban dan masalah sosial dapat dibahas.

ABSTRACT
Despite past researches on code switching, few have touched upon the cultural analysis on code switching. This study examines issues of cultural differences between Western and Indonesian through code switching occurrence in Gogirl magazine. This study was based on Lalita Malik rsquo s 1994 theory on the reasons of code switching, and this study will investigate code switching occurrences within the intimacy and the cultural concepts spectrums. Based on the finding, code switching occurs when there is lack of register competence and facility, and it also serves to emphasize words. Those reasons reflect cultural differences issue that also contribute in the occurrence of code switching in Gogirl magazine. In the future, future studies might want to focus the study on relations between intimacy and social problems, where intimacy might be triggered by social circumstances.

Abstrak :
Skripsi ini membahas gejala bahasa pergaulan pada speech community mahasiswa Stikom Interstudi Wijaya. Nilai-nilai seperti kebebasan berekpresi, media, dan prestise mempengaruhi pemilihan bahasa pergaulan di kalangan mahasiswa. Dengan menggunakan metode etnografi komunikasi, penelitian ini berusaha menemukan kaitan antara proses pembentukan identitas dan penanda prestise dengan penggunaan bahasa pergaulan. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan metode kualitatif seperti wawancara serta rekaman speech events dan di analisis dengan teori Ethnography of Speaking. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa ada nilai budaya tersendiri yang dianut oleh kelompok sosial mahasiswa. Representasi nilai budaya dalam penggunaan bahasa pergaulan terlihat dari penggunaan kata-kata yang sarkatis yang memperlihatkan adanya semacam reduksi makna, sehingga bagi speech community penggunanya kata tersebut tidak mengandung kekasaran dan dilihat sebagai upaya meraih prestise sosial dalam percakapan. This thesis discusses the use of slang in the speech community college students Stikom Interstudi Wijaya. How cultural values such as freedom of expression, sexuality, and prestige affect code-switching among the students. By using the ethnography of communication methods, this research seeks to find linkages between the process of the formation of identity and prestige with the use of slang. Data were collected using qualitative technique such as interviews, and recording speech events to be analyzed by Ethnography of Speaking. The research concluded that there is particular cultural values which are held by students of social groups. As the Representation of cultural value in using sarcastic slang indicates ?reduction? of meaning, the speech community uses the sarcastic slang to achieve social prestige in which some explicit words has no longer contain violence meaning in the conversations.

Abstrak :
This study discussed the use of code-switching among the late adolescents in social media facebook. The purpose of the research was to know the types of code-switching used among the late adolescents in social media facebook by applying poplack theory. The other purpose was to reveal the reasons for using such types of code-switching in social media facebook by applying Hoffman theory. The descriptive qualitative research design was used in this study. The data of the research were analyzed using Miles and Huberman method. The results of the research were (1) there were three types of code-switching used by the late adolescents in social media facebook, (2) some reasons in using code-switching were being emphatic to others, the use of interjection to gain attention, the use of repetition for clarification, intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor, expressing identity group, softening the request or command, lexical needs, and using satire. Satire was mostly found in this research.

Alih kode dan campur kode terjadi dalam masyarakat multibahasa. Fenomena ini terlihat di media sosial, salah satunya adalah Youtube. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk campur kode dan alih kode dalam video blog pada kanal Youtube Korea Reomit dengan metodologi deskriptif kualitatif. Teori sosiolinguistik digunakan untuk menganalisis bentuk campur kode dan alih kode. Bentuk campur kode berupa penyisipan kata dan frasa, sedangkan bentuk alih kode dibagi menjadi dua, yaitu alih kode internal dan alih kode eksternal. Berdasarkan dua video yang digunakan, ditemukan bentuk campur kode dan alih kode pada tuturan penutur asing dalam menggunakan bahasa Indonesia. Pada kanal Youtube Korea Reomit, ditemukan 78 bentuk campur kode sisipan kata, 11 bentuk campur kode sisipan frasa, 2 bentuk alih kode internal dan 16 bentuk alih kode eksternal. Faktor penyebab terjadinya campur kode dan alih kode, antara lain lawan tutur, perubahan topik pembicaraan, dan tujuan penutur. ...... Code switching and code mixing occur in a multilingual society. This phenomenon can be seen on social media, one of which is Youtube. This study discusses the forms of code switching and code mixing in videos. This study aims to describe the forms of code switching and code mixing in video blogs on the Reomit Korea Youtube channel using a qualitative descriptive methodology. Sociolinguistic theory is used to analyze the form of code switching and code mixing. The form of code mixing is the insertion of words and phrases, while the form of code switching is divided into two, namely internal code switching and external code switching. Forms of code-switching and code-mixing found in the utterances of foreign speakers using Indonesian on the Korean Reomit Youtube channel, namely 78 forms of word insert code mixing, 11 forms of phrase insert code mixing, 2 forms of internal code switching and 16 forms of external code switching. Factors that cause code-switching and code-mixing occur in the form of interlocutor factors, the speaker's goals and changes in the topic of conversation.

Penelitian ini membahas alih kode pada lima video kanal YouTube Keluarga Cemara di Belanda. Penelitian ini berfokus pada jenis dan faktor yang melatarbelakangi terjadinya alih kode tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan jenis, proses, dan faktor yang menyebabkan terjadinya alih kode pada konten video YouTube Keluarga Cemara di Belanda dengan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan teori alih kode menurut pendapat Poplack (1980) dan Hoffmann (1991). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa jenis alih kode pada konten video kanal YouTube Keluarga Cemara di Belanda didominasi oleh jenis alih kode dalam kalimat (intrasentential switching). Sebagian besar alih kode dilakukan untuk pengulangan atau klarifikasi dengan tujuan agar konteks percakapan dapat dimengerti anggota keluarganya serta dapat menarik perhatian penontonnya. ......This research discusses code switching in five videos of Keluarga Cemara di Belanda youtube channel. This research focuses on the types and factors that cause code switching. The purpose of this research is to describe the types, processes, and factors that led to code switching in 5 videos of Keluarga Cemara di Belanda using a qualitative descriptive research method based on code switching theory according to Poplack (1980) and Hoffmann (1991). The results of this research show that the type of code switching in Keluarga Cemara di Belanda youtube channel is dominated by the type of code switching in sentences (intrasentential switching). The cause of code switching is mostly done for repetition or clarification with the aim that the context of the conversation can be understood by family members as well as attract their visitors.

Abstrak :
Beberapa tahun belakangan ini, grup penyanyi asal Korea yang dikenal dengan BTS atau Bangtan Sonyeondan menjadi sebuah fenomena internasional. Pengaruh mereka sebagai idola generasi ketiga telah menembus pasar global. Album mereka yang berjudul Love Yourself terkenal dengan pesan mengenai “mencintai diri sendiri” dan album ini juga membantu mereka menjadi terkenal secara global. Tiga lagu dari album ini, “I’m Fine”, “Idol”, dan “Mic Drop” terpilih berdasarkan tingkat popularitasnya dan penampilannya di panggung internasional. Pada penelitian sosiolinguistik ini, metode yang digunakan adalah metode campuran, kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dengan dasar teori Poplack mengenai jenis alih-kode. Total alih-kode dari ketiga lagu adalah 90 alih-kode dengan 19 tag switches, 51 inter-sentential switches, dan 20 intra-sentential switches. Pendekatan kualitatif berfokus pada deskripsi, analisis dan interpretasi atas alasan dibalik alih-kode yang terjadi, baik dalam bahasa Inggris standar atau bahasa Inggris Afrika-Amerika (AAE). Maka dari itu, analisis diskursif digunakan sebagai dasar atas tiga fokus dalam pendekatan kualitatif. Selain itu, menurut teori Widawski mengenai bentuk AAE, bentuk penggabungan, abreviasi, konversi, penggabungan, peminjaman, dan pembuatan bentuk ditemukan dalam tiga lagu tersebut dengan total 47 ungkapan AAE. Teori tata bahasa dari J.L Dillard digunakan untuk membantu analisis penelitian ini. Alih-kode dalam AAE kemudian akan dianalisis menggunakan teori fungsi AAE dari Widawski. Dalam tiga lagu tersebut ditemukan fungsi sosial, psikologi, retorik, dan budaya.Teori fungsi digunakan untuk membantu menginterpretasikan motivasi dibalik ungakapan AAE yang digunakan. Dari 17 ungkapan AAE, motivasi yang paling sering digunakan adalah retorik dan psikologi. Ungkapan AAE berperan sebagai sebuah bahasa untuk menunjukan kekuatan mereka. Dalam lagu-lagu tersebut, ungkapan AAE berperan sebagai cara berekspresi untuk mencintai diri sendiri, perlawanan atas kebencian terhadap mereka, dan stereotip menjadi idola. Namun, penelitian lebih lanjut diharapkan untuk dilaksanakan dengan data yang lebih banyak dan cakupan analisis yang lebih besar.

Over the past few years, a Korean boy-group known as BTS or Bangtan Sonyeondan has become an international phenomenon. Their influence as the third-generation Idol has penetrated the global market. Their album, Love Yourself, is known worldwide for its message of self-love that later helps them to be known globally. Three songs in this album, "I'm Fine", "Idol", and "Mic Drop", are chosen for their popularity and performance in International stages. For this sociolinguistic research, the method is a mixed-method between quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative approach focuses on the 90 switches in the songs based on Poplack's theory of code-switching with 19 tag switches, 51 inter-sentential switches, and 20 intra-sentential switches. The qualitative approach focuses on describing, analyzing, and interpreting the possible reasons behind the switches that occur in both standard-English and African American English (AAE). Hence, discourse analysis is used as the base of the three intended focuses on the qualitative approach. Moreover, according to Widawski's forms of AAE, 47 expressions in AAE are found in these songs with combining, shortening, conversion, blending, borrowing, and creating forms. J.L. Dillard's grammar of AAE is also used to help analyze this research. These AAE switches than analyzed with Widawski's theory of function of AAE, which provides social, psychological, rhetorical, and cultural functions to help interpret the motivation behind the chosen AAE expressions. Out of 17 types of AAE switch, the most frequent motivations are rhetorical and psychological functions. AAE expressions act as a language of power since, throughout the songs, the expressions act as reassurance, mostly about self-love, and resistance toward hates and stereotype of being idols. However, further research is expected to be conducted with more extensive data and scope of analysis.
