Although the relationship between access to clean energy and food security has received much attention globally, empirical studies on the relationship between energy and food security are still scarce. Using household data in Indonesia from 2018-2020, this study assesses the impact of access to clean energy on poor household food security. The study uses an instrumental variable method to overcome the endogeneity problem of access to clean energy by instrumenting access to clean energy with historical distance variables (old postal highway and old port in 1934). The results show that poor households with clean energy access have food security 14.46% higher than the poor household without clean energy access. Compared with rural households, access to clean energy for poor households in urban areas has a more significant impact on the household food security level. This finding implies that the government must continue to expand the availability of access into cleaning energy for the poor to promote and expand the use of clean energy for the poor and increase the food security of low-income families."

"The paper presents some early outputs from a study considering Papua’s economic development options. Rich in mineral and forestry wealth, Papua paradoxically suffers the highest levels of poverty in Indonesia; it can be argued that uneven income distribution is as significant as a lack of wealth, or potential. Using secondary data sources the paper looks at how economic development options impact on Papua. However, it concludes that unless Papua resolves its chronic energy shortages economic development will be constrained. Therefore, it considers a number of sustainable energy sources including jatropha and sago and clean technologies: biodiesel, ethanol and anaerobic digestion. An initial cost benefit feasibility study is presented for each option, prior to making some early observations on their economic, social and environmental impact."

This undergraduate thesis explains about the political dynamics in carbon pricing policy formulation in the 2011 Clean Energy Act in Australia. Besides as a response of the Kyoto Protocol and the Climate Change Convention, the policy was made as a result of the political negotiation between the Australian Greens and the Labor Party. As the coalition of the Labor Party in the hung parliament, the Australian Greens had a strong legitimacy in influencing the policy. A list of theory is used to analyze the involvement of Australian Greens in the mentioned political dynamics such as the Ecologism theory by Andrew Dobson, the Green Party theory by Neil Carter, the Political System theory by David Easton, and the Public Policy theory by Thomas R. Dye. In addition to the carbon problems in the climate change issues, the research finds that the involvement of the Australian Greens was affected by the ecologism ideology, and political opportunity in the form of coalition in hung parliament."

McNerney, Jerry
"Dangerous CO2 emissions, massive oil spills, dwindling supplies the problems with fossil fuels are driving a longoverdue reassessment of our nation's energy policies. U.S. Congressman Jerry McNerney, a renewable energy engineer and the first representative with expertise in energy independence, leads the way to change. In "Clean Energy Nation", he and journalist Martin Cheek make an impassioned argument for drastically reducing dependency on fossil fuels and developing sustainable, readily available energy sources solar, wind, biofuel, geothermal, and hydrogen-based power. Bringing together a rare combination of scientific knowledge, political savvy, and insightful journalism, the authors reveal the pros and cons of alternative energy sources and examine how our nation became addicted to fossil fuels in the first place. The book reads like the dramatic story it is, complete with dire projections about peak oil and grim scenarios of rising oceans! keen insights into policies and players that have stalled progress on climate change and favored big oil!and astute recommendations for building a clean energy economy and a prosperous, stable future."

"This book describes an original improvement in power quality of photovoltaic generation systems obtained by the use of a multilevel inverter implemented with level doubling network (LDN). Modulation principles and harmonic analysis of output voltages are proposed and introduced in detail for both single and three-phase LDN configurations. The analysis is then extended to dc-link current and voltage, with emphasis to low-frequency harmonics and switching frequency ripple. This work represents the first comprehensive implementation of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) schemes using the ripple correlation control (RCC) algorithm in the presence of multiple ripple harmonics, such as in the case of multilevel inverters. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are carefully reported here, together with practical insights into the design of dc-link capacitors."

"Prepare yourselves for the coming Cyber Revolution! Over time, humankind has transformed from hunter-gatherer to farmer, from farmer to industrial worker, and from industrial worker to service provider. Now, we are on the cusp of a fourth transformative wave, spurred by climate change, exponential population growth, and our ever-increasing reliance on technology.
This Copernicus book follows the stream of changes we will likely experience over the next few decades. These will involve the design and planning of smart cities and vital new mega-cities, as well as the use of sophisticated artificial intelligence and knowledge systems in our professional and everyday lives. The book shows how the nature of work, economics, taxation, social intercourse, and a slew of other global human endeavors will almost certainly undergo fundamental shifts during this time."
