Abstrak :
Tanah lempung merupakan salah satu jenis tanah yang memiliki banyak manfaat. Tanah lempung dapat dimanfaatkan pada bidang pertanian sebagai media tanaman yang membutuhkan kuantitas air yang cukup banyak karena tanah lempung memiliki nilai porositas yang tinggi dan nilai permeabilitas yang rendah. Cara mengidentifikasi tanah lempung dapat memanfaatkan metode resistivitas. Salah satu jenis tanah yang memiliki nilai resistivitas tinggi adalah tanah lempung. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh tanah lempung terhadap nilai resistivitas tanah. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tanah lempung terhadap perubahan nilai resistivitas tanah di lahan perkebunan Cikreteg, Jawa Barat. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini pengambilan sampel dilakukan di tiga lahan berbeda dengan variasi kedalaman hingga 100 cm untuk menganalisis hubungan tanah lempung terhadap nilai resistivitas. Nilai resistivitas didapatkan setelah mengukur nilai resistivitas tanah sampel di laboratorium menggunakan alat pengukuran resistivitas konfigurasi empat elektroda. Keberadaan mineral lempung dapat dibantu oleh analisis SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) dan XRD (X Ray Diffraction) dimana terlihat pada hasil foto SEM bahwa terdapat tanah dengan ukuran butir bernilai dibawah 2 μm, dan hasil analisis XRD menunjukan pada tanah sampel yang diambil di daerah Cikreteg, Jawa Barat mengandung mineral lempung dickite dan kaolinite. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dalam penelitian kali ini menunjukan bahwa distribusi partikel tanah lempung memiliki pengaruh terhadap nilai resistivitas atau dengan kata lain keberadaan tanah lempung mempengaruhi nilai resistivitas tanah. ......Clay soil is a type of soil that has many benefits. Clay soil can be used in agriculture as a growing medium which requires a large quantity of water because clay has a high porosity value and a low permeability value. How to identify clay soil can use the resistivity method. One type of soil that has a high resistivity value is clay soil. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of clay on soil resistivity values. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between clay soil and changes in soil resistivity values in plantation areas in Cikreteg, West Java. In conducting this study, sampling was carried out in three different fields with variations in depth of up to 100 cm to analyze the relationship of clay soil to resistivity values. The resistivity value was obtained after measuring the resistivity value of the sampled soil in the laboratory using a four-electrode configuration resistivity measurement tool. The presence of clay minerals can be assisted by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and XRD (X Ray Diffraction) analysis where it can be seen from the SEM photo results that there is soil with a grain size of less than 2 μm, and the results of the XRD analysis show that the soil samples taken in the Cikreteg area , West Java contains dickite and kaolinite clay minerals. The conclusions obtained in this study show that the distribution of clay particles has an influence on the resistivity value or in other words the presence of clay affects the resistivity value of the soil.

Oil and gas exploration is increasingly moving to deepwater locations to meet the increasing energy demands. In this environment, floating structures with suction pile foundations are commonly used because their the cost-effectiveness. Some studies have been conducted to examine the behavior of suction piles in clays, but the clay conditions considered are typically normally consolidated and lightly overconsolidated. In this paper, the behavior of suction piles in underconsolidated clays and underconsolidated-normally consolidated clays adopted from actual deepwater soil conditions. The evaluation was performed using geotechnical 3D finite element software Plaxis. Suction piles with two different aspect ratios (L/D = 2 and 6) were considered, and the focus was on the effect of load angles (0? to 90?) and the effects of padeye position (0.5 L to 0.9 L). For short piles, the load angles had a relatively insignificant effect on the overall ultimate resistance, while for long piles, the angles affected the overall resistance considerably with a decrease in resistance up to about 50 percent. This different behavior could be explained from the observed pile deformation patterns. The padeye positions affected the pile resistances significantly as well with a decrease in resistance up to about 30 percent. Nevertheless, it can be concluded that the overall behavior of suction piles in a combined clay conditions is practically similar to that of piles in normally consolidated and overconsolidated clays.

The book comprises selected proceedings of the 2016 annual conference of the Indian Geotechnical Society. The technical papers presented on the theme “Geotechnical Characterisation and Geoenvironmental Engineering” highlight the modified geotechnical properties of soil admixed industrial waste and also the characteristics of soil with different pore fluid under varying test conditions. The major topics covered are (i) characterisation of soils, rocks and synthesised materials and (ii) geoenvironmental engineering and behaviour of unsaturated soil. This book will prove a valuable reference for researchers and practicing engineers alike.
