Salah satunya ialah film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) produksi Paramount Pictures yang diadaptasi dari dongeng Grimm bersaudara. Penelitian ini membahas imaji Hollywood yang direpresentasikan dalam film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013). Dengan metode kualitatif berupa deskriptif analisis, penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana imaji Hollywood dikemas dalam film. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa adanya imaji-imaji baru yang berbeda dengan versi aslinya disebabkan karena adanya pengembangan cerita serta perubahan motif yang dilakukan oleh tim produksi. Imaji Hollywood dalam film ini digambarkan melalui penokohan, alur dan cerita, dialog antar tokoh serta ekspresi yang dikemas berbeda dari versi dongeng Grimm. Hal ini berkaitan dengan tujuan Hollywood sebagai industri global yang ingin menciptakan suatu hiburan massa yang menjangkau pasar internasional.

The adaptation of fairy-tale texts into films is increasingly being carried out by Hollywood film producers. The film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) is produced by Paramount Pictures which was adapted from the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm Hansel und Gretel. This study discusses Hollywood images represented in the film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013). With qualitative methods in the form of descriptive analysis, this study focuses on how Hollywood images are packaged in films. The results of the study show new images that are different from the original version. The result is due to the development of stories and changes in motives carried out by the production team. Hollywood images in this film are portrayed through characterizations, lines and stories, dialogues between characters and expressions that are packaged differently from the fairytale version of Grimm. The result also show how Hollywood as a global industry create a mass entertainment that reaches international markets."

"ABSTRAKDongeng karya Grimm bersaudara telah banyak diadaptasi menjadi film untuk konsumsi populer, seperti yang dilakukan oleh Disney dan Hollywood. Konsumsi populer dilakukan untuk mengangkat kembali cerita-cerita yang sudah kehilangan popularitasnya dengan cara merekontekstualisasikan isi cerita, sehingga menjadi relevan dan relatif lebih mudah dipahami oleh penonton. Hal seperti ini dapat dilihat pada film produksi Warner Bros Pictures Red Riding Hood (2011) yang disutradarai oleh Catherine Hardwicke yang mengalami perubahan narasi dari versi aslinya, yaitu cerita rakyat Jerman karya Grimm bersaudara Rotkäppchen (1812). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berupa analisis deskriptif dengan hasil bahwa setiap adaptasi mengalami perombakan besar terhadap isi cerita. Film adaptasi ini menjadikan dongeng tidak hanya sebagai tradisi lisan, melainkan juga sebagai budaya massa.

ABSTRACTThe Grimm brothers' tales have been widely adapted into films for popular consumption, as has been done by Disney and Hollywood. Popular consumption is carried out to bring back stories that have lost popularity by way of contextualizing the storyline so that it becomes relevant and relatively more easily understood by the audience. This can be seen in the film Red Riding Hood (2011) directed by Catherine Hardwicke undergoing a narrative change with the original version, namely the German folklore by Grimm brothers Rotkäppchen. This study uses a qualitative method of descriptive analysis with the result that each adaptation has undergone an overhaul of the contents of the story, such as in the film Production Warner Bros Pictures which produces a narrative change with the original version. This film adaptation makes fairy tales not only an oral tradition but also mass culture."

"ABSTRAKThis article is an excerpt from an undergraduate thesis of the same title and which focuses on A Series of Unfortunate Events, a children rsquo s book series by Lemony Snicket. This thesis explores how a culture of fear shapes childhood, which is represented in the series. This research uses qualitative textual analysis that focuses on the portrayal of the society and adult characters in its treatment of children. This research analyzes how the series represent the way that childhood is shaped by a culture of fear through the depiction of various characters and the society in the novels by analyzing the social institutions in the novels. This research also explores the author rsquo s attempts of challenging the notion of children as a vulnerable group that is represented in the novels, by analyzing the Baudelaires rsquo identity and vulnerability. Results suggest that A Series of Unfortunate Events demonstrate ambivalence in the perception of childhood. Social institutions that should create a safe space for children tend to further perpetuate the culture of fear for them. Furthermore, children rsquo s vulnerability is often taken advantage of by adults for their own interests. Results also suggest that for children, their childhood is shaped by a culture of fear that is created and maintained by adults.

ABSTRAKArtikel ini adalah ringkasan dari skripsi berjudul sama yang membahas serial buku anak-anak A Series of Unfortunate Events karya Lemony Snicket. Skripsi ini membahas bagaimana culture of fear mempengaruhi masa kanak-kanak yang direpresentasikan oleh A Series of Unfortunate Events. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis tekstual yang berfokus pada penggambaran masyarakat dan karakter orang dewasa dalam perlakuannya terhadap anak-anak. Penelitian ini menganalisa representasi masa kanak-kanak dalam serial ini yang dibentuk oleh culture of fear melalui penggambaran berbagai karakter dan institusi-institusi sosial yang terdapat di dalam novel. Penelitian ini juga menganalisa upaya-upaya penulis untuk mematahkan asumsi identitas anak sebagai sosok yang rawan melalui penggambaran identitas dan kerawanan anak-anak Baudelaire. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat ambivalensi dalam persepsi masa kanak-kanak. Institusi-institusi sosial yang semestinya menciptakan lingkungan yang aman bagi anak-anak malah menempatkan mereka di situasi-situasi yang menakutkan. Selain itu, identitas vulnerability yang dimiliki anak-anak seringkali dimanfaatkan orang dewasa untuk kepentingannya sendiri. Penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa masa kanak-kanak dibentuk oleh culture of fear yang diciptakan dan dipertahankan oleh orang dewasa."

"Revolutionary Justice narrates the power struggle between the free officers and their adversaries in the aftermath of Egypts July revolution of 1952 by studying trials held at the revolutions court and the peoples court. The establishment of these tribunals coincided with the most serious political crisis between the new regime and the opposition, primarily the muslim brothers and the wafd party, but also senior officials in the previous government. By this point, the initial euphoria and the unbridled adoration for the free officers had worn off, and the focus of the public debate shifted to the legitimacy of the armys continued rule. Revolutionary justice focuses on what happened both within and outside the courtroom. The tribunals transcripts, which constitute the prime source of this study, afford a rare glimpse of the direct dialogue between opposing parties. The books principle argument is that the rhetoric generated by Egypts special courts played a crucial role in the denouement of the countrys political struggles, the creation of new historical narratives, and the shaping of both the regimes and the oppositions public image. The courtroom deliberations perpetuated the prevailing emergency atmosphere, which helped the junta tighten its grip on the helm and advance its plans for a new dispensation. At the same time, the responses of defendants and witnesses during the trials exposed weaknesses in the official hegemonic narrative. Paradoxically, oppositional views that the regime tirelessly endeavored to silence were tolerated and recorded in the courtroom."
