Abstrak :
Penelitian ini membahas majasyang dalam lagu Beauty & De Brainsdari album Zo Van Ah Yeah (2014) dan laguIJskouddari album Diamant(2018)karya Nielson. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yang hasilnya dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis majasdan mengkaji maknakedua lirik lagu tersebut untuk mengetahui transformasi musik Nielson.Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan, ditemukan bahwa pemaknaan lagu berdasarkan majas padalirik dua lagu tersebut menunjukkan adanya transformasi musik Nielson. ......This research focuses on figurative language in songs titled Beauty & De Brains from the album Zo Van Ah Yeah (2014) and IJskoud from the album Diamant (2018) by Nielson. The methode used in this research is qualitative and the result is being explained descriptively. This research aims to identify figurative languages and to study the meaning behind those two songs to know the transformation of Nielsons music. Based on the analysis that has been done, the result shows that studying the meaning of songs based on the figurative language used in the lyrics of those songs shows that there is transformation in the music of Nielson.

Abstrak :
“I can’t breathe” menjadi salah satu bentuk ekspresi atas rasisme semenjak kematian George Floyd yang tragis pada bulan Mei 2020. Pada bulan Juni 2020, H.E.R. merilis sebuah lagu yang terinspirasi dari ekspresi ini. Lagu tersebut berbicara tentang rasisme terhadap kulit hitam, terutama kasus kekerasan polisi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengamati struktur ideologi dan komponen visual dalam lagu I Can’t Breathe karya H.E.R. dan mengamati bagaimana kedua aspek tersebut mendukung gerakan Black Lives Matter. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis wacana multimodal untuk menganalisis lirik dan video klip dari lagu tersebut. Ditemukan bahwa lirik lagu I Can’t Breathe merepresentasikan orang kulit putih sebagai kelompok yang mendominasi dengan kekerasan, yang menimbulkan protes sosial dari kelompok kulit hitam. Video klip dari lagu ini juga merepresentasikan gerakan Black Lives Matter sebagai protes sosial atas isu rasis tersebut. Dengan analisis wacana modal, terutama dalam menganalisis visual, penelitian ini dapat mengkonfirmasi korelasi antara lagu I Can’t Breathe dengan gerakan Black Lives Matter. Lagu itu sendiri adalah sebuah protes yang sejalan dengan gerakan Black Lives Matter; struktur ideologi dan komponen visual dalam lagu ini menyampaikan konteks dari isu rasisme yang sedang berjalan dan nilai-nilai yang dipegang gerakan Black Lives Matter dalam menghadapi isu tersebut. ......“I can’t breathe” has become an expression of racism since the tragic death of George Floyd in May 2020. H.E.R. released a song titled after this expression in June 2020, which speaks up about black racism, especially police brutality. This study aims to examine the ideological structures and visual components of the song I Can’t Breathe by H.E.R. and see how the two aspects support the Black Lives Matter movement. To achieve the aims, this study uses multimodal discourse analysis to analyze the song lyrics and its music video. This study finds that the song lyrics represent white people as dominating and violent, resulting in social protests from the black community. The music video further represents the Black Lives Matter movement as a protest against the racial issue. Through the use of multimodal discourse analysis, especially the visual analysis, this study confirms the correlation between the song and the Black Lives Matter movement. The song I Can’t Breathe by H.E.R. is indeed a protest which aligns with the Black Lives Matter movement; the ideological structures and visual components of the song convey the context of the issues, as well as the values of the Black Lives Matter movement in response to the issues.
