"This thesis aims to portray students' attitude toward bahasa Indonesia and English. In addition it tries to find out their motivation in studying those two subjects. Therefore, some hypotheses were proposed. The objects of this research were senior high school students in Bandarlampung. 109 students were taken to be the samples. The data were collected through questionnaires which consist of 56 questions of attitude aspect and 43 questions for motivation aspect. Likert scale was used to measure those two aspects. The data collected were then analyzed by using product moment to see the correlation between attitude and motivation with student's achievement. Simple regression was applied to seek the influence of attitude and motivation toward bahasa Indonesia and English subjects. To sum tip toward bahasa Indonesia students have favourable feeling as well as toward English. I lowever, they have low motivation of learning toward those two languages. Language attitude as well as motivation of learning influence the achievement on bahasa Indonesia and English subjects. "ABSTRAKMeski telah banyak studi mengkaji mengenai perpetuasi stereotip perempuan Latin dalam budaya populer Amerika, hanya ada sedikit riset yang membahas mengenai perlawanan terhadap stereotip-stereotip tersebut yang direpresentasikan oleh berapa karakter perempuan Latin. In The Heights 2008 adalah salah satu karya teater musikal Broadway populer yang mencoba untuk melawan gambaran stereotipikal orang-orang Latin. Melalui analisis karakter menggunakan konsep tiga kategori representasi perempuan Latin milik Keller 1994 , penelitian ini menganalisa representasi perempuan Latin dalam karakter Nina Rosario. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa representasi yang ada merupakan sebuah bentuk perlawanan terhadap stereotip perempuan Latin.

ABSTRACTWhile recent studies have analysed the perpetuation of Latina stereotypes in American popular culture, few research have discussed about the defiance against the stereotypes represented by certain Latina characters. The popular Broadway musical In The Heights 2008 is one of the works that tries to challenge the stereotypical portrayal of Latinos. By doing character analysis using Keller rsquo s three types of Latina representations 1994 , this paper attempts to analyse the Latina representation in the character Nina Rosario. It found that the representation manifests an act of defiance against the perpetuation of Latina stereotypes."

"Artikel ini mengulas bagaimana film Soul (2020) menggambarkan konsep hidup dan mati melalui perjalanan para karakter sebagai individu. Artikel ini menerapkan analysis tekstual terhadap adegan dan dialogue untuk mengungkap pandangan para karakter pada hidup mereka dan bagaimana pertemanan mereka membawa pelajaran hidup terhadap satu sama lain. Dengan menggunakan metodologi kualitatif, artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa dua karakter yang ada di dalam film (Joe dan Twenty-Two) melihat hidup secara berbeda, dan pandangan mereka terhadpa kematian berubah melalui perjalanan mereka yang mempertemukan satu sama lain, yang mengizinkan mereka untuk melihat tujuan hidup mereka yang sebenarnya. Perubahannya adalah realisasi pada kedua karakter akan spark yang mereka punya. Akhirnya, film berkeinginan untuk mengutarakan ide-idea tentang hidup dan mati yang digambarkan oleh film melalui pandangan karakter mengenai hidup dan mati dalam alam utama yaitu The Great Before atau The You Seminar dan alam kehidupan di New York City.

This article examines how the film Soul (2020) depicts the concept of life and death through the characters’ journey as individuals. This paper applies textual analysis of scenes and dialogues to reveal the character’s views of their lives and how their friendship brings life lessons to each other. Using qualitative methodology, the paper concludes that both characters in the movie (Joe and Twenty-Two) see life differently, and their view toward death changes through their journey of meeting one another, allowing them to see their real purpose in life. The change is both characters’ realization of the ‘spark’ that they have. Ultimately, the film wishes to communicate the ideas of life and death that the movie depicts through the character’s views of life and death in the main realms of The Great Before or The You Seminar and the land of the living in New York City."

"Animation movies have become one of the most popular genres in cinema, with fairy tale adaptations being a particularly common theme. Most animated movies avoid the serious genre because they think children are not ready to understand the topic. However, there is a growing need to explore how animated films can address serious themes in a way that is accessible to children. In Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022), a fairy tale adaptation story that has a theme about mortality is built upon how a character demonstrates his heroism just for seeking instant gratification until he deals with the problem of mortality, which slowly turns his life upside down and changes personality. This paper addresses the problem of how animated films can effectively portray complex issues like mortality. Applying textual analysis and Freud’s psychoanalytical approach, this paper concludes that the character Puss in Boots in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) demonstrates the psychological struggle of maintaining heroic values through the interplay of the Id, Ego, and Superego while facing mortality. Sebagian besar film animasi menghindari genre serius karena menganggap anak-anak belum siap memahami topik tersebut. Namun, ada kebutuhan yang semakin meningkat untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana film animasi dapat mengangkat tema serius dengan cara yang dapat diakses oleh anak-anak. Dalam Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022), cerita adaptasi dongeng yang bertema tentang kematian dibangun berdasarkan bagaimana seorang karakter menunjukkan kepahlawanannya hanya untuk mencari kepuasan instan sampai dia menghadapi masalah kematian, yang perlahan mengubah hidupnya dan mengubah kepribadiannya. Karya ini membahas masalah bagaimana film animasi dapat secara efektif menggambarkan isu-isu kompleks seperti kematian.
