Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana konsumen di Indonesia menghadapi online behavioral advertising (OBA). Sebagai salah satu negara dengan pengguna internet terbesar di Asia, praktek pemasaran digital di Indonesia dianggap sebagai cara yang paling efektif untuk mempromosikan produk dan penggunaan online behavioral advertising merupakan salah satu tehnik yang paling umum digunakan pada pemasaran digital. Penerapan online behavioral advertising dianggap memberikan banyak keuntungan bagi para pengiklan terutama dalam hal efisiensi biaya dan efektifitas suatu kegiatan promosi. Namun di sisi lain, praktik OBA dalam pemasaran menimbulkan kekhawatiran serius mengenai privasi konsumen karena sifatnya yang terselubung. Pada prakteknya, OBA melacak dan merekam setiap perilaku konsumen di internet tanpa meminta izin konsumen terlebih dahulu. Kurangnya kesadaran dan pengetahuan konsumen terhadap praktek OBA ini akan mengakibatkan risiko bagi privasi konsumen itu sendiri. Penelitian kuantitatif ini ingin mengkaji bagaimana konsumen menghadapi online behavioral advertising dengan menggabungkan dua pendekatan yaitu berdasarkan Persuasion Knowledge Model (PKM) dan Protection Motivation Theory (PMT). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara menyebarkan kuesioner online kepada pengguna internet di seluruh Indonesia dengan memanfaatkan media sosial (Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram dan Twitter) ......This study examines how consumer knowledge about online behavioral advertising (OBA) tactics affects ad avoidance behavior in display ads and video ads on Instagram social media platforms. The study combines two theoretical approaches, the Persuasion Knowledge Model (PKM) and the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT). The online survey examined how consumers cope with OBA based on their persuasion knowledge, cognitive appraisal, and cognitive processing variables. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data collected from 211 consumers aged 18-34 years who are active Instagram users. The results reveal that from the cognitive appraisal variables, the perceived risks were indirectly associated with ad avoidance throughout privacy concerns without being related to persuasion knowledge, perceived benefits were significantly associated with persuasion knowledge. Still, it was not associated with privacy concerns, persuasion knowledge was indirectly associated with ad avoidance throughout self-efficacy, and privacy concerns partially mediated such associations with ad avoidance. From the cognitive processing variables, reactance was significantly associated with ad avoidance without being related to persuasion knowledge, and perceived personalization was associated with persuasion knowledge and significantly related to ad avoidance.

ABSTRAK
Perkembangan dan inovasi tehnologi dalam memproses informasi memungkinkan pengiklan atau pemasar dapat merubah strategi kampanye pemasaran yang mereka lakukan dari bentuk iklan massal secara tradisional kedalam bentuk iklan personal untuk mengirimkan pesan iklan kepada konsumen secara individual. Tetapi karena iklan personal dapat menginvasi konsumen sampai kepada wilayah paling pribadi, konsumen cenderung beranggapan bahwa informasi personal yang mereka miliki dapat saja disalahgunakan sehingga konsumen cenderung merasa terganggu dan tidak percaya dengan berbagai informasi persuasif dari pengiklan dan cenderung akan menghindari paparan iklan-iklan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor potensial yang dapat mempengaruhi terjadinya perilaku atau sikap menghindari iklan personal menggunakan pendekatan Psychological Reactane Theory dalam kontek mobiles advertising berbasis SMS (spam) di Indonesia. Penelitian menggunakan metode dekriptif dengan single cross sectional design, dan hasil uji analisis model menggunakan analisis Structural Equation Model (SEM). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa konstruk Ad Skeptiscm berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap ad avoidance, sedangkan Perceived Personalization terbukti mengurangi pengaruh negatif iklan personal terhadap ad skepticsm, selain itu Perceived Privacy Concern, Ad Intrusiveness juga berpengaruh positif terhadap ad avoidance, sementara itu Frequency of Ad Exposure secara signifikan memoderasi hubungan antara Ad Intrusiveness dan Ad Avoidance. Sedangkan konstruk yang tidak terbukti memiliki hubungan positif adalah Perceived Personalization dan Ad Irritation terhadap Ad Avoidance.
ABSTRACT
The advanced development of information-processing technology allows advertiser to shift the focus of their effort from traditional mass advertising to personalized advertising to deliver messages tailored to individual preferences. Since personalized advertising could intrude into consumers private domains, consumers tended to perceive their personal information as threatened, became annoyed and distruful of persuasive efforts and therefore avoided such messages. This study attempts to identify potential determinants of personalized advertising avoidance also provide an integrated theoritical approach to resistance for understanding the dynamics of consumer avoidance of personalized advertising. Of these stand point of resistance the dominant view is the motivation to resist, as the psychological reactane theory mentioned, in the context of mobiles advertising media. One of the new style of mobiles advertising medium is via SMS (Short Messages Service) to handled devices, especially on mobiles phones. SMS ads has become technological buzzword in transmitting B2C messages to such wireless devices as mobile phones. The study used descriptive research method with a single cross sectional designs, and the proposed model is tested with Strcutural Equation Model Analysis. The findings indicate that construct of Ad Skepticsm, Perceived Privacy Concern, Ad Intrusiveness, potentially influenced of an SMS advertising avoidance. Percieved Personalization negatively influenced ad intrusiveness. However Perceived Personalization and ad irritation of an SMS advertising that hyphotesized to influence the ad avoidance were nor significant. While Frequency of ad Exposure positively moderates the relationship between the perceived level of SMS ad intrusiveness and ad avoidance.

Saat ini banyak penelitian yang telah meneliti efek dari iklan personalisasi pada periklanan tradisional. Namun, masih sedikit yang meneliti efeknya terhadap iklan di media sosial khususnya Instagram. Dengan menggunakan metode PLS-SEM, penelitian ini memfokuskan efek dari iklan personalisasi yang dirasakan oleh konsumen di Instagram pada reaksi sikap dan perilaku konsumen (kredibilitas iklan, penghindaran iklan, skeptisisme iklan, sikap iklan, niat perilaku, dan keterlibatan pelanggan) terhadap iklan. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sampel pengguna Instagram generasi Z yang menggunakan aplikasi media sosial tersebut dalam satu minggu terakhir. Berdasarkan data sampel yang didapat, hasil temuan menunjukkan 14 dari 15 hipotesis didukung. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa iklan personalisasi mampu meningkatkan respons positif konsumen (misalnya meningkatkan kredibilitas dan sikap iklan) dan mengurangi respons negatif mereka terhadap iklan (misalnya menurunkan skeptisisme iklan dan kecenderungan untuk menghindari iklan). Respons yang positif ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan kemungkinan konsumen untuk membeli serta keterlibatan mereka terhadap iklan personalisasi. ......Today many studies have examined the effect of personalized advertising on traditional advertising. However, few have examined the effect on advertising on social media, especially Instagram. By using the PLS-SEM method, this study focuses on the effects of personalized advertising felt by consumers on Instagram on the reaction of consumers' attitudes and behavior (ad credibility, ad avoidance, ad skepticism, attitude towards ad, behavioral intentions, and customer engagement) on advertising. This study uses sample data of Z generation Instagram users who had used the social media application in the past week. Based on the sample data obtained, the findings show that 14 of the 15 hypotheses are supported. This finding proves that personalized advertising can increase consumers' positive responses (e.g., increase the credibility and attitude of advertisements) and reduce their negative responses to advertisements (e.g., reduce advertising skepticism and tendency to avoid advertising). This positive response is proven to be able to increase the likelihood of consumers to buy and their involvement in personalized advertising.
