Abstrak :
Skripsi ini membahas aktivisme dan problematika yang muncul dalam dinamika pengungsi sebagai respon dan resistensi terhadap upaya eksklusi terhadap mereka. Dalam operasionalisasi, penelitian ini memfokuskan diri pada aktivisme yang dilakukan oleh para pengungsi Irak di Amerika Serikat melalui pendekatan Abject Cosmopolitanism. Penelitian memfokuskan diri pada kekuatankekuatan, praktik-praktik dan pembagian-pembagian yang menempatkan para pengungsi Irak pada posisi yang lebih lemah (zone of shame, disgrace and debasement). Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan melihat kelas "abject", yakni para pengungsi, pencari suaka serta migran ilegal senantiasa turut menyuarakan aspirasi mereka melalui berbagai aktivisme, terlepas dari kenyataan bahwa mereka sudah/belum memiliki status sebagai warga negara (citizenship).

This thesis discuss the activism and problematic arising in the refugee dynamics as response and resistance towards the exclusion efforts done towards them. In its operationalization, this research focuses itself on activism done by Iraqi refugee in the United States through an Abject Cosmopolitanism approach. The research focuses on powers, practices and divisions placing Iraqi refugee on a weaker position (zone of shame, disgrace and debasement). The research approach utilized views that the "abject" class, consisting of refugees, asylum seeker and illegal migrants, is constantly voicing their aspirations through various activism, regardless of the fact that they have/haven?t obtained the status of citizenship.

Penyihir perempuan adalah salah satu tokoh paling ambivalen dalam film horor karena mereka dapat bertindak sebagai kekuatan subversif, namun juga tokoh yang sesuai dengan stereotip misoginis perempuan. Berdasarkan buku Barbara Creed tentang monstrositas keperempuanan (monstrous-feminine), serta teori 'hina' (abject) dari Julia Kristeva, makalah ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana seksualitas dan kekuasaan perempuan direpresentasikan melalui figur penyihir dalam film horor—khususnya dalam konteks film Suspiria versi 2018 dan film The Lords of Salem (2012). Melalui pendekatan psikoanalitik terhadap narasi, karakter, serta simbol, yang dihubungkan dengan konsep monstrositas keperempuanan dan teori ‘hina,' makalah ini mencoba menggambarkan interpretasi tentang perempuan yang kompleks—dan seringkali saling bertentangan—dalam film horor bertema penyihir, di mana mereka sering digambarkan sebagai perempuan yang merdeka dan berkuasa tetapi pada dasarnya masih dianggap sebagai sesuatu yang 'lain' dan menakutkan. Penulis menemukan bahwa penggambaran sifat keibuan dan fungsi reproduksi perempuan dalam kedua film tersebut berperan dalam membangun ketakutan bawah sadar terhadap seksualitas dan kekuasaan perempuan. Pada akhirnya, penulis berpendapat bahwa representasi penyihir dalam kedua film masih penuh dengan ambiguitas, yang menjadikan mereka sebagai representasi pemberdayaan perempuan yang masih kurang stabil. ......The female witch is one of horror cinema’s most ambivalent figures as they may act as a subversive force while still conforming to older misogynistic stereotypes of women. Drawing primarily on Barbara Creed’s book about the monstrous-feminine, as well as Julia Kristeva’s theory of the abject, this paper explores the way female sexuality and power are represented through the witch figures in horror cinema–specifically in the context of the 2018 version of Suspiria and the horror film The Lords of Salem (2012). Through a psychoanalytic examination of the narratives, characters, and symbols, in conversation with the concept of monstrous-feminine and ‘the abject,’ the paper attempts to illustrate the complex—and often conflicting—interpretation of women in witch-themed horror movies, in which they are frequently portrayed as liberated and empowered but are still being fundamentally regarded as ‘other’ and terrifying. The writer finds that the portrayal of the maternal traits and female reproductive function in both movies are instrumental in constructing the subconscious fear towards female sexuality and power. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that female power is still portrayed under the influence of patriarchal construction, particularly related to the ancient notion of castration anxieties. Ultimately, the writer contends that the representations of the witch in both movies are still fraught with ambiguities, which render them as an unstable figure of female empowerment.
