Language Attitude Towards Indonesian New Words among College People in Jakarta. This study is focused on language attitude towards Indonesian new words among college people in Jakarta with respect to the acceptability of the new words. The data were collected by means of questioner as primary instrument and interview as secondary instrument. This research aims at describing language attitude among college people and the degree of acceptability of new words. To achieve the aims, this research makes use two approaches: sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics approaches. The sociolinguistics approach--in this case language planning--is used in this research because this study is concerned with corpus planning that is the corpus of the Indonesian language. Corpus planning is part of language planning which deals with the development of language code in order to make language capable of being effectively and efficiently used to express various modem concepts. The psycholinguistics approach is used in this research because this study is concerned with language speakers' attitude, the field of social psychology. This study reveals that college people in Jakarta tend to have a positive attitude towards Indonesian new words and its development. This attitude can be seen not only in its cognitive components, but also in its affective and cognitive component. This study also shows that this language attitude is highly correlated with the acceptability of Indonesian new words although the acceptability of Indonesian new words is also determined by the characteristics of the new words, i.e. clarity of meanings, economy of word forms, beauty of sounds, and usefulness. The characteristics of the new words are found to have correlation with the acceptability of new words. But the social variables, i.e. gender, job, education, age, and the first language of the respondents do not seem to contribute to the attitude towards, and acceptability of the new words.

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai kalimat majemuk yang terdapat dalam buku cerita anak usia 10 tahun yang berjudul Vater, Mutter, Ich, und Sie karya Jürg Schubiger. Metode dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan memaparkan jenisjenis kalimat majemuk yang terkandung dalam buku cerita anak tersebut, serta membuktikan kesesuaian penggunaan kalimat majemuk dalam buku cerita anak tersebut dengan teori oleh Hulit dan Howard mengenai penggunaan kalimat kompleks untuk anak usia 10 tahun. Dari hasil penelitian, kalimat majemuk yang ditemukan dalam buku cerita anak tersebut adalah kalimat majemuk setara dan bertingkat. Kalimat majemuk yang mendominasi adalah kalimat majemuk bertingkat.
This research examines the compound sentences in the children?s book for 10 year-olds, which is called Vater, Mutter, Ich, und Sie written by Jürg Schubiger. This is a qualitative and quantitative research. The purposes of this research are to explain and break down the types of compound sentences which are written in the book, and then prove the compatibility of those compound sentences used in the book based on the theory from Hulit and Howard on the usage of compound sentences for 10 year-old children. According to the results, the compound sentences in the book are compound-complex sentences. However the complex sentence type is the one that dominates in the book.

Skripsi ini membahas kata-kata pinjaman bidang olahraga dalam bahasa Jawa. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersumber dari artikel-artikel dalam majalah Panjebar Semangat edisi tahun 2003-2012. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis peminjaman beserta proses pembentukan katanya dan motivasi peminjaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori pembentukan kata, teori jenis peminjaman, dan teori motivasi peminjaman. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis peminjamannya sebagian besar utuh atau sama persis dengan bahasa asal, sedangkan motivasi peminjamannya cenderung berkaitan dengan gejala pungutan karena adanya motif kebutuhan untuk memenuhi. ......The focus of this study is loan-words of sports in Javanese language. The data which is used in this study comes from the articles in Panjebar Semangat magazine, particularly editions of 2003-2012. This study aims to determine types of borrowing along with their word formation processes and motivations of borrowing. This study uses the theories of word formations, types of borrowing, and motivations of borrowing. The descriptive method that is used in this research leads to the results where the types of borrowing and their formation processes are largely same as the languages of origin, and the motivations of borrowing are tended to be related with the need-filling motives.
