"[ABSTRAK
Komedi situasi (sitcom) merupakan salah satu bentuk tayangan di televisi yang berusaha
menampilkan potret realita sosial. Meskipun berakar dari fakta dan kondisi masyarakat,
komedi situasi juga merekonstruksi paradigma audiens dengan representasi yang
disuguhkan dalam bentuk audio sekaligus visual.
Tetangga Masa Gitu sebagai sebuah sitcom baru berusaha menampilkan sosok perempuan
Indonesia yang baru dan berbeda dengan stereotipe konvensional. Tetapi di saat yang sama,
terdapat bagian dari identitas lama yang masih dipertahankan. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya
sebuah ideologi yang mendasari representasi tersebut dan berusaha dikukuhkan. Melalui
tesis ini, penulis melihat sebuah redefinisi yang semu dari sosok perempuan yang digagas
dalam episode-episode sitcom ini.
Teori Representasi digunakan untuk meninjau dialog-dialog dan cuplikan adegan dalam
tayangan Tetangga Masa Gitu dan menunjukkan proses redefinisi identitas perempuan.
Tesis ini mencoba memberikan pemahaman akan representasi dalam televisi yang
meskipun berubah, akan selalu terhubung dengan akar identitas sebuah masyarakat.

ABSTRACT
Situation comedy (Sitcom) is one kind of television show presenting snapshots of a society.
Eventhough it is based on fact and social conditions, a sitcom also reshapes its audiences?
paradigm through audio & visual representations showed in it.
As a new sitcom, Tetangga Masa Gitu is trying to present a new model of Indonesian
women, which differs from the conventional stereotypes. However, there are parts of the
old identity that emerge in the sitcom. It shows that there is this one form of ideology
constructing the way this sitcom represents women. In this research, the aim is to see the
false redefinition on women narrated in episodes of this sitcom.
Theory of representation is used to analyze dialogues and screenshots, and identify the
process of redefining women?s identity. This thesis attempt to provide understanding upon
representations in television which tends to change, yet is always connected to its root in

"Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi identitas perempuan pada tiga majalah perempuan di Indonesia, yaitu: Cosmopolitan, Femina, dan Kartini, melalui representasi gaya hidup, nilai individual, dan relasi gender. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis wacana dari pemikiran Norman Fairclough dan analisis framing dan pemikiran Gamson & Modigliani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa artikel pada majalah perempuan masih mengaitkan identitas perempuan dengan ketubuhan dan kecenderungan membentuk nilai femininitas. Selain itu, masih ditemukan bahasa yang seksis dalam teks. Meskipun artikel pada majalah perempuan dapat memotivasi perempuan untuk aktualisasi eksploitasi perempuan dalam artikel tetap ada. Ini menunjukkan bahwa jumalis perempuan pads majalah perempuan masih bias dalam penulisan dan reportase isu perempuan. Kondisi tersebut dikarenakan ideologi patriarki yang masih dominan di tempat keija dan masyarakat. Di sisi lain, kapitalisme masih mempengaruhi aktivitas media sehingga turut mempengaruhi pembentukan identitas perempuan. Akibat ketergantungan majalah perempuan pada iklan, mendorong pembaca menjadi konsumtif karena secara tidak disadari, pembaca telah dijadikan sebagai target sasaran iklan tersebut, melalui Cara mempromosikan femininitas dalam tampilan praktik konsumsi.

Representation of Women's Identity: Construction of Identity's Consciousness By Women's Magazine (Text Feature Analysis in Femina, Martini, and Cosmopolitan Magazine on April The aim of this research analyze women's identity construction in three women's magazine in Indonesia, with samples: Cosmopolitan, Femina, and Kartini by representing the lifestyle, personal values, and gender relation. Adopting to the Norman Fairciough's discourse analysis and Gamson & Modigliani's framing analisys, this research shows that articles in the women's magazines is still relating the women identity with the women's body and tendencies to construct the feminine values. Also found in this research that sews language is still used in the texts. Although the articles can motivate women for self actualization, but exploiting women in the articles is still exist. It shows that women reporters in the women `s magazine is still bias in writing and reporting women issues. It's because of the patriarchy ideology are still dominant in the work place and society. In other hand, capitalism in economic is also influencing the media activities, so it also influencing the construction of women identities. Dependencies of the women magazine to advertisement, without notice by the reader, it makes them becoming the main target of commercialization, with promoting feminity through appearance of practical comsuption, that will encourage the readers become consumtive."

"Tesis ini menganalisis konstruksi identitas perempuan Islam dalam Hijabers Community. Tesis ini mempertanyakan konstruksi identitas perempuan Islam yang direpresentasikan dalam Hijabers Community, dan bagaimana anggota komunitas merespon konstruksi tersebut. Pemerolehan data dilakukan melalui pendekatan etnografi dengan wawancara mendalam kepada komite dan anggota Hijabers Community, dan observasi kegiatan komunitas. Tesis ini menggunakan konsep identitas dan representasi identitas oleh Stuart Hall (1990, 1996, dan 1997). Hasil analisis tesis ini menunjukkan adanya negosiasi antara nilai-nilai kesederhanaan (modesty) dan kemodernan gaya hidup urban (sophisticated) terhadap konstruksi identitas perempuan Muslim dalam Hijabers Community.

This thesis analyses the construction of Indonesian Muslim women's identity in Hijabers Community. It questions the construction of Muslim women's identity represented by Hijabers Community and how its members react towards the construction of identity. This thesis uses ethnography approach with observation and depth-interview with the committees and members of Hijabers Community. This thesis deploys the concept of identity and the representation of identity by Stuart Hall (1990, 1996, and 1997). The results show the negotiation between modesty and modern sophisticated urban living in the construction of Muslim women's identity.
