Praise for the previous edition: Remarkable, richly illustrated textbook ... enriched by numerous demonstrative illustrations ... the quality of all the 2397 illustrations is an iconographic achievement. Practically no criticism can be raised for this most remarkable book, which one expects will have a wide diffusion. -- Clinical Imaging Differential Diagnosis in Ultrasound Imaging, Second Edition, is a complete revision and extension of this best-selling Thieme title, bringing it up to date with the very latest clinical and technological standards. With a specific focus on general abdominal. This book focuses on general abdominal, genitourinary, and thyroid pathologies to guide readers through the process of sonographic differential diagnosis.

Recurrent acute pancreatitis is often caused by excessive alcohol intake and bile stones. Patients suffering from more than one episode of acute pancreatitis are diagnosed with recurrent acute pancreatitis. The etiology of recurrent acute pancreatitis is known in 70 to 90% of patients after evaluation incorporating history taking, physical examination, routine laboratory assessment, and transabdominal ultrasonography or CT scan. However, the etiology of 10 to 30% of patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis remains undetermined. Further more sensitive evaluation is often performed, such as ERCP, ultrasound endoscopy, or MRCP, in order to determine the cause for recurrent acute pancreatitis. These tests are usually able to diagnose microlithiasis, sphincter oddi dysfunction, or pancreatic division,3-4'5-6>7. Medina- Perez M, Garcia Ferris G, Caballow Gomes J, Hospital de la Merced, and Ossuna Sevilla reported a rare case on a 33-year old woman with recurrent acute pancreatitis related with an anatomical abnormality in the form of a duplicate duodenal ampulla with multiple stones2 Even though several researches were able to detect microlithiasis in less than 10% of all patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis, most of them found microlithiasis in approximately two thirds of the patients.3

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has evolved from an obscure method of investigation in the 1980s to a distinct endoscopy subspecialty with interventional and therapeutic capabilities. The art of interpreting EUS images is a skill every endoscopist needs to master. This book helps to meet that need as it is concise, simple to read, and amply illustrated, and describes the technique in a step-by-step manner. Many high-resolution EUS images of diseases are included, and literature reviews are kept short and concise while separate discussions and illustrations are devoted to radial and linear techniques. The book can be used as a reference handbook in the endoscopy room, yet contains all of the relevant information required to perform EUS, interpret images, and reach a diagnosis. Important pathological conditions are thoroughly discussed using representative EUS images, pointing out salient differentiating features, and relevant literature reviews are included. The section on interventional EUS deals with advanced interventional or therapeutic procedures, and potential complications and methods to avoid them are discussed.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate sensitivity and specificity of the high resolution ultrasonography as compare to electromyography to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Methods: This cross sectional study evaluated the high resolution sonography of 30 consecutive patients (44 samples) with clinical CTS as compare with the electromyography as gold standard. The criteria used in the diagnosis of CTS with high resolution sonography was based on the findings as reported by Calleja Cancho et.al., Buchberger et.al., and Mesgarzadeh et.al. Results: Based on the statistics computation, we noted that the sensitivity, specificity and Kappa value are 97,1%, 60% and 0.84, respectively, for high resolution sonography as compare with the electromyography.
