"The objective were to know the base medium, growth regulator concentration of Kinetin, and combination of this treatment that had the best response to rooting phase of Sandalwood. This study was expected to play role in contributing great advantages to support the plant material provision in operational scale.
Generally, the protocol of tissue culture of Sandalwood had been acknowledged, however there were still problems on rooting phase. Therefore the study wasfocused on 1/2 MS medium application, 1/2 GD, and 1/2 WPM, also application of Kinetin in different levels of concentration (0; 0,25; 0,50; 0,75; and 1 mg/1) on root development in Sandalwood.
Study result concluded that the base medium of 1/2 MS and application of Plant Growth Regulators IBA 20 mg/1 combined with IAA 1 mg/1, and treatment of 0,75 mg/1 Kinetin concentration had the best response to growth and enlargement of Sandalwood root."

"Tujuan : Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui perbedaan kadar peroksida lipid (kadar MDA) dan kadar nitric oxide (NO) pada kultur jaringan plasenta preeklampsia dan plasenta wanita hamil normal sebagai pembanding.
Rancangan Penelitian :
Penelitian ini merupakan studi cross-sectional, sampel diambil dari jaringan plasenta penderita preeklampsia (n=13) dan plasenta wanita hamil normal (n=13) dilakukan kultur dengan menggunakan metode tabung selama 72 jam. Pemeriksaan kadar peroksida lipid (kadar malondialdehida) dengan spektrofotometer pada panjang gelombang 530 nm. Pemeriksaan kadar NO menggunakan reagent griess dengan spektrofotometer pada panjang gelombang 540 nm. Data dianalisis dengan uji t indefendent dan uji korelasi pearson dengan batas kemaknaan 0,05.
Hasil :
Rerata kadar peroksida lipid pada kultur jaringan plasenta preeklampsia dan plasenta normal 2,79 (1,36) vs 0,51 (0,28) nmol/ml sangat signifkan, sedangkan rerata kadar NO pada kultur jaringan plasenta preeklamsia dan normal 56,87 (32,96) vs 65,59 (40,73) ìmol/L tidak berbeda bermakna, dan ada korelasi negatif yang sangat lemah antara kadar peroksida lipid dengan kadar NO (r=-0,122) pada kultur jaringan placenta preeklampsia.
Kesimpulan :
Rerata kadar peroksida lipid pada kultur jaringan plasenta penderita preeklampsia lebih tinggi secara bermakna dibandingkan plasenta normal, rerata kadar NO pada kultur jaringan plasenta preeklampsia tidak berbeda secara bermakna dengan plasenta normal, dan ada korelasi yang sangat lemah antara kadar peroksida lipid dengan kadar NO pada kultur jaringan plasenta preeklampsia dan plasenta normal.

Level Of Lipid Peroxide And Nitric Oxide In Placenta Tissue Culture Of Pre Eclampsia PatientAim : The aim of this research is to acquire the difference of lipid peroxide (MDA level) and Nitric Oxide level (NO) between pre eclampsia placenta tissue culture and normal pregnant woman.
Research Design :
This research is cross-sectional study, the sample of this research was taken from placenta tissue of pre eclampsia patient (n =13) and woman whose normal placenta tissue (n=13). This research using culture and applying tube methode for 72 haurs. Checking level of lipid peroxide was done by using spectrophotometer at 530 nm length wave. Testing NO level was done by using reagent griess at 540 nm length wave. The data was analyzed by using independent t test and pearson correlation at significant level 0,05.
Result :
The average level of lipid peroxide pre eclampsia placenta and normal placenta was very significant, 2,79 (1,36) vs 0,51 (0,28) nmol/ml. Whereas, the average level of NO at pre eclampsia placenta cultur has no significant difference from normal placenta (56,87 (32,96 vs 65,59 (40,73) ìmol/L, and there is weak corelation between lipid peroxide level and NO level of pre eclampsia placenta tissue culture and normal placenta."

"An experiment to investigate the somatic embryogenesis from shoot-derived callus of Pogostemon cablin (nilam plant) has been conducted at the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Agricultural Faculty, University of Jambi from January through to July 2004. Callus proliferation was induced on explants taken from young shoots cultured on solid MS medium supplemented with phytohormones NAA (0.8, 1.1, 1.4, and 1.7 ppm) and BAP (1.1, 1.4, 1.7, and 2.0 ppm) under in vitro conditions. Cultures were maintained at 25  1 oC, light intensity 50 �?�mol m-2 s-1, and 16 hours photoperiod. The results indicated that all cultured explants showed positive responses on callus proliferation on all treatments within two weeks of culture initiation. The effect of phytohormones, however, was unspecific as all callus showed similar properties, from non-embryogenic to embryogenic. The addition of NAA and/or BAP to the culture medium was not significantly affected the number of days to callus proliferation. Callus fresh weight was significantly affected by NAA (P = 0.01) or BAP (P = 0.05), but the interaction of these phytohormones resulted in a non-significant effect on callus fresh weight (P = 0.18). Also, BAP significantly affected callus dry weight (P =0.03). However, neither NAA nor its interaction with BAP significantly affected callus dry weight (P = 0.07 and 0.16, subsequently). Embryogenic and non-embryogenic callus were subcultured separately onto new fresh media with the same composition as for callus induction. Following this subculture, embryogenic callus regenerated somatic embryos within ten days, whereas non-embryogenic callus did not show any symptom of embryogenesis, and lost their proliferative capacity after six weeks of subculture. The regenerated somatic embryos continued to grow to form profuse mass of young plantlets ready for in vivo acclimatization."
