Latar Belakang
Penulis-penulis drama Amerika kontemporer sering menyorot kehidupan keluarga Amerika pada abad ke 20 baik mengenai keluarga kulit putih maupun keluarga kulit hitam. Mereka menggambarkan dampak industrialisasi, urbanisasi, maupun nilai-nilai budaya terhadap kehidupan keluarga modern di Amerika sejak abad ke 19. Mereka juga melontarkan kritik sosial terhadap pemerintah melalui karya-karya mereka. Contohnya, drama karya Arthur Miller Death of a Salesman, drama karya William O"Neill Long Days Journey into Night, drama karya Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire, dan drama karya Edward A l bee The Zoo Story.

Dalam karya-karya mereka, sering terungkapkan kondisi kehidupan keluarga yang menyedihkan di pedesaan maupun di perkotaan, juga keadaan daerah pertanian yang ditinggalkan karena perpindahan penduduk ke arah Barat maupun ke kota-kota besar karena perkembangan industri dan ilmu pengetahuan.

Hubungan antar anggota keluarga dalam kehidupan keluarga Amerika modern diungkapkan masih terpengaruh oleh ikatan kekerabatan pada abad ke - 19, namun hubungan tersebut mulai melonggar pada abad ke 20. Suka duka kehidupan keluarga Amerika modern abad ke 20 menggambarkan adanya perubahan dalam aspek hubungan antar anggota' keluarga. Hubungan antar anggota keluarga yang sebelumnya mementingkan keluarga di atas kepentingan pribadi berubah menjadi individualistis.

Dalam tesis ini saya akan menielaskan tentang hubungan antar anggota keluarga dalam kehidupan keluarga Amerika modern abad ke 20 sebagaimana yang terungkap dalam lakon Our Town karya Thornton Wilder dan lakon Curse of the Starving Class karya Sam Shepard. Karya Thornton Wilder mengungkapkan hubungan antar anggota keluarga yang harmanis pada awal abad ke 20, antara tahun 1899 - 1913, sedangkan karya Sam Shepard mengungkapkan hubungan antar anggota keluarga yang tidak harmonis yang mengakibatkan adanya disorganisasi keluarga pada tahun 1950-an.

Disertasi ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dinamika yang berlangsung antara agen dan struktur dalam masyarakat nelayan di Desa Teluk, Labuan-Banten. Dengan menggunakan teori strukturasi Anthony Giddens dan dilengkapi dengan konsep pembangunan sosial berdasarkan struktur, kultur, dan proses, dalam melihat dinamika relasi yang ada antara agen dan stuktur dalam masyarakat nelayan. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan strategi grounded research. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa di dalam masyarakat nelayan telah terjadi perubahan dalam struktur dari dominasi kelembagaan formal menjadi dominasi kelembagaan non-formal. Kemiskinan yang ada pada struktur yang lama ternyata direproduksi oleh struktur yang baru. Penelitian ini juga menemukan kelemahan dari strukturasi Giddens yang menganggap bahwa struktur dalam versi dualitas-nya, baik sebagai hasil dan sekaligus sarana (medium) praktik sosial ternyata tidak selalu bersifat enabling atau memberdayakan. Pembangunan kelautan dan perikanan, khususnya menyangkut tentang bagaimana mengatasi kemiskinan masyarakat nelayan harus melihat pentingnya dinamika relasi yang terjadi antara agen dan struktur agar perubahan yang dilakukan oleh negara, dalam hal ini Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan, tidak justru melahirkan kemiskinan baru.

ABSTRACT
This dissertation aims to describe the dynamics that take place between the agent and the structure of the fishing community in Teluk Village, Labuan, Banten. By using structuration theory of Anthony Giddens and equipped with the concept of social development based on the structure, culture, and processes, in view of the dynamics of relationships that exist between agents and structures in the fishing communities. The approach used in this study is a qualitative grounded research strategy. The results of this study indicate that in the fishing community has been a change in the structure of the formal institutional domination domination of non-formal institutions. Poverty that exist on the old structures turned out to be reproduced by the new structure. The study also found weaknesses of Giddens structuration which assume that the structure in its duality version, either as a result and at the same time means (medium) social practices were not always be enabling or empowering. Development of marine and fisheries, particularly with regard to how to overcome poverty of fishing communities must see the importance of the dynamics of relationships that occur between agents and structures so that the changes made by the state, in this case the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, did not actually give birth to new poverty. Abstrak :
Tesis ini merupakan penelitian mengenai pergeseran maskulinitas yang direpresentasikan oleh drama Jepang Long Vacation (1996) dan Last Cinderella (2013). Selama dekade 1990-an sampai dekade 2000-an terjadi peristiwa bubble economy dan bursting bubble economy. Kedua peristiwa tersebut membuat pergeseran maskulinitas dalam masyarakat Jepang, khususnya anak muda. Drama Jepang Long Vacation dan Last Cinderella dipilih karena selain drama merupakan produk budaya populer, drama juga digemari masyarakat, khususnya perempuan. Drama Jepang Long Vacation dan Last Cinderella masing-masing berjumlah 11 episode. Episode-episode yang ada akan dianalisis menggunakan semiotika Barthes dan menggunakan model analisis milik Chafetz tentang area maskulinitas. Melalui analisis data baik verbal maupun nonverbal, dari maskulinitas era 1990-an diketahui terdapat standar maskulinitas 3C, fenomena neesan nyobou, dan fenomena lebih dari teman, kurang dari pacar. Sementara era 2010-an standar maskulinitas berubah menjadi empat rendah dan terdapat fenomena herbivore men. Kata Kunci : maskulinitas, representasi, drama Jepang

This thesis examnies masculinity alterationn represented by the Japanese drama Long Vacation (1996) and Last Cinderella (2013). During the 1990s until 2000s there were bubble economy and bursting bubble economy hapenned in Japan. Both of these events made masculinity alteration in Japanese society, especially young people. The Japanese drama Long Vacation and Last Cinderella were chosen because besides drama is a product of popular culture, drama is also popular, especially among women. The Japanese drama Long Vacation and Last Cinderella each amounted to 11 episodes. The episodes analyzed by using Barthes semiotics and using Chafetzs analysis model of the area of masculinity. Through data analysis both verbal and nonverbal. The results are from the 1990s era, there were standard of 3C masculinity, neesan nyobou phenomenon, and the phenomenon of more than friends, less than boyfriends. While in the 2010s era the standard of masculinity changed to four low and there was also herbivore men phenomenon happened. Keywords: masculinity, representation, Japanese TV series

Tesis ini membahas tentang pembentukan identitas dan ideologi anak muda melalui representasi laptop dalam iklan. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Semiotika Barthes dengan didukung oleh model analisis dari Rose. Iklan adalah salah satu media yang membentuk identitas melalui representasi-representasinya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa laptop membentuk identitas anak muda yang berkaitan dengan gaya hidup moderen anak muda perkotaan masa kini. Selain itu, penggunaan laptop dalam iklan menunjukkan bahwa secara ideologis, laptop merupakan representasi dari teknologi yang menjadi ciri masyarakat moderen yang dinamis. ...... This thesis analyzes the identity and the ideology which are represented by laptop as the representation of technology in ads. This research is a qualitative research using three types of ads, as the data. The theories which are used to analyze the data are the semiotic theory by Roland Barthes and the visual analysis model by Gillian Rose. The result of this research shows that the use of laptop in ads represent certain identities of young people, especially the urban young people. Beside that, the use of laptop in ads, ideologically, shows that technology becomes the character of the modern people nowadays.

Skripsi ini membahas mengenai representasi patriotisme pada proyek nasional di media sosial VKontakte. Patriotisme yang dimaksud mengacu pada wacana yang dicanangkan semenjak era Vladimir Putin menjabat sebagai Presiden Rusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis dengan sumber data berupa hasil pos di akun VKontakte. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall 1997. Hasil analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat representasi patriotisme pada enam sumber data yang telah dipilih. Representasi tersebut merupakan hasil produksi dari peta konseptual dan bahasa yang sama dari suatu kelompok budaya. ......This thesis discusses about the representation of patriotism in the national project on VKontakte. Patriotism in question refers to the discourse that was proclaimed since the Vladimir Putin era served as President of Russia. This research uses analytical descriptive method with source from VKontakte account. The analysis is using the representation theory of Stuart Hall 1997. The results of this analysis shows that there are representations of patriotism in the six data sources that have been selected. This representation is the product of the same conceptual map and language of a cultural group.
