Abstrak :
Kanker merupakan penyakit yang mematikan dan kecemasan yang terjadi pada pasien kanker berbeda pada setiap peristiwa yang dialami. Salah satu upaya dalam menurunkan kecemasan adalah dengan hand massage. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi efektivitas hand massage terhadap penurunan tingkat kecemasan pasien yang menjalani kemoterapi pertamakali. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen pre test dan post test terhadap 34 responden yang terdiri dari 17 orang kelompok intervensi dan 17 orang kelompok kontrol. Uji perbedaan menggunakan paired t test dan pool t test. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kecemasan adalah State Trait Anxiety Inventory. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya perbedaan penurunan yang bermakna pada kelompok intervensi yang mendapatkan hand massage dengan p value 0,000. Peneliti merekomendasikan perawat untuk dapat meakukan hand massage untuk menurunkan tingkat kecemasan pada pasien yang menjalanikemoterapi pertama sehingga perjalanan pengobatan yang dilakukan pasien terlaksana secara berkesinambungan dan diharapkan meningkatkan motivasi pasien dalam menjalani pengobatan. ...... Cancer is a deadly disease and different anxiety of cancer patient on every event experienced. One of the effort done is hand massage. The study aimed to identify effctiveness hand massage to increase anxiety level of patients who underwent the first chemotherapy. This study used quasi experiment design with pre and posttest with control group,the number of sample was 34 respondents. The intervention group was 17 respondents and the control group was 17 respondents . The data was analized using paired t test and pool t test.Using State Trait Anxiety Inventory instrument to measure anxiety. The results showed a significant decrease in the intervention group that received hand massage and education with p value 0,000. The study recommend nurses to be able to perform hand massage and attempt to apply hand massage to decrease anxiety levels in patients undergoing first chemotherapy so that continuous patient treatment will be continuously and increase motivation of patients in undergoing treatment.
