"ABSTRAK

Securities Investor Protection Fund merupakan hal yang baru dalam kegiatan pasar modal di Indonesia dibanding dengan di negara lain seperti Amerika Serikat dan Singapura. Lembaga ini memberikan ganti kerugian terhadap investor yang mengalami kerugian akibat kesalahan perusahaan efek. Implementasi Dana Perlindungan Pemodal di pasar modal Indonesia diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan pemodal dan juga menambah jumlah pemodal. Dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas mengenai implementasi lembaga Securities Investor Protection Fund di Indonesia serta perbandingan penerapannya di negara lain seperti Amerika Serikat dan Singapura guna mengetahui ketersesuain penerapan Securities Investor Protection Fund di Indonesia dibanding dengan penerapannya di negara lain.

ABSTRACT

Securities Investor Protection Fund organization is a recent organization in Indonesia compared to other countries, such as United States of America and Singapore. This organization will provide indemnification to an investor who suffers loss due to the failure of securities company. Implementation of Securities Investor Protection Fund organization is expected to increase investor’s trust and number of the investor. This thesis will discuss implementation of Securities Investor Protection Fund organization in Indonesia compared to the implementation of the similar organization in United States of America and Singapore in order to obtain understanding on the conformity of the implementation within the countries.

"Salah satu ciri pasar modal yang maju dan modern adalah adanya kemampuan dari pasar modal tersebut untuk melahirkan produk-produk inovatif dan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan emiten dan investor. Seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan investasi lewat pasar modal dan semakin tingginya antusiasme investor dalam maupun luar negeri untuk menanamkan dana, serta perkembangan investasi pasar modal yang telah dilakukan oleh Negara lain, maka pemerintah Indonesia mendorong untuk dibentuknya lembaga Perlindungan Dana Pemodal yang dilaksanakan oleh Indonesia Securities Investor Protection Fund. Reformasi pada Pasar Modal yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah ini adalah untuk menjawab kebutuhan dan permintaan pasar, yaitu rasa aman, kepastian dalam berinvestasi, terciptanya Pasar Modal yang teratur, wajar dan efisien. Pembentukan Dana Perlindungan Pemodal diharapkan dapat menutup resiko investasi non-ekonomis di pasar modal.

One of the characteristics of a developed and modern capital market is the ability of the capital market to deliver innovative products and can meet the needs of issuers and investors. Along with the rapid development of investment through the capital markets and the increasing enthusiasm of local or foreign investors to infuse funds, as well as the development of capital market investment that has been made by other countries, the Government of Indonesia pushed for the establishing of the Investor Protection Fund which undertaken by Securities Investor Protection Fund. On the capital market reforms undertaken by the Government is to respond to the needs and requests of the market, certainty, fair and efficient in investing. Establishment of Indonesia Securities Investor Protection Fund is expected to cover the risk of non-economical investments in Indonesia's capital market."
