"Studi kasus ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari resiliensi permukiman informal urban dengan fokus pada keberlanjutan dan adaptasi Home Based Enterprises (HBE) dalam menghadapi risiko ekonomi dan lingkungan. Para operator HBE di permukiman tersebut menerapkan berbagai strategi resiliensi sehingga ruang HBE dapat berperan sebagai wujud pemenuhan kebutuhan ekonomi dan adaptasi terhadap kondisi lingkungan yang kerap kali dilanda banjir rob. Data diambil melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan mengamati dan menganalisis tiga hunian dengan HBE di Blok Empang. Hasil studi kasus menunjukkan bahwa ruang HBE berkontribusi dalam menghasilkan pendapatan bagi rumah tangga dan memperkuat jaringan ekonomi komunitas melalui hubungan sosial yang kuat di permukiman padat informal. Masyarakat juga melakukan upaya kreatif dalam mempertahankan hunian melalui strategi makro dan mikro terhadap banjir. Studi kasus ini merekomendasikan perlunya perhatian terhadap aspek-aspek bahwa hunian perlu dirancang sebagai ruang multidimensi sebagai upaya manusia dalam kegiatan menghuni, di mana hunian tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat untuk beristirahat, namun juga sebagai tempat untuk bekerja.

This case study aims to investigate the resilience of urban informal settlements with a focus on the sustainability and adaptation of Home Based Enterprises (HBE) in the face of economic and environmental risks. The HBE operators in these settlements implement various resilience strategies, allowing the HBE spaces to serve as both economic necessities and adaptations to the frequently occurring flood hazards. The data was collected through a qualitative approach by observing and analyzing three residential units with HBE in Blok Empang. The results of the case study indicate that HBE spaces contribute to household income generation and strengthen the community's economic network through strong social relationships within the dense informal settlement. The community also engages in creative efforts to maintain their residences through macro and micro flood strategies. This case study recommends the need to consider aspects that housing should be designed as multidimensional spaces to fulfill human activities, where housing serves not only as a place to rest but also as a place to work."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana para penghuni permukiman informalmembentuk jaringan sosial dalam mengembangkan kegiatan ekonomi yang dijalankan.Menggunakan konsep informalitas perkotaan serta pemikiran terkait dengan proses pembentukanjaringan sosial, tesis ini berusaha untuk menjelaskan informalitas sebagai proses, bukan sekedarproduk dari urbanisasi dan globalisasi. Metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan Actor NetworkTheory dipilih untuk dapat menjawab bagaimana proses pembentukan jaringan sosial pada 10keluarga penghuni permukiman informal dalam membangun sektor ekonomi berbasis hunianatau Home Based Enterprises HBE sebagai sumber penghidupan. Melalui penelitian ini,diperlihatkan bahwa jaringan sosial para penghuni informal dibentuk melalui proses panjang.Dalam proses pembentukan HBE, transformasi hunian menjadi suatu kesempatan bagi parapenghuni informal untuk meningkatkan pendapatan dengan menjadikan keluarga sebagai modaproduksi utama. Tidak hanya itu, transformasi hunian memperlihatkan bagaimana proseskegiatan produksi yang dilakukan, dapat mempengaruhi fungsi peran anggota keluarga dalammenjalankan kegiatan ekonomi. Melalui penelitian ini, HBE tidak hanya membangun jaringansosial para pelaku usahanya, namun juga dapat membentuk jaringan pasar yang lebihprofessional dengan mengaitkan antara sektor ekonomi informal dengan sektor ekonomi formalkota. HBE menjadi strategi bertahan hidup bagi para penghuni informal untuk mencapailivelihood.

The rapid growth of cities quickly results in greater challenges, not only for the government butalso for urban planners. The dramatic changes in socio spatial aspects as a consequence of hyperurbanization has become the major cause of the urban informality to surface. Today, informaleconomy activities has become an important issue within the urban planning study. Despite theminimum political power from its illegality, it has been found that there is a major power andpotential of urban informality actors who succeed to created huge impact on the city planningand development processes. Home based enterprises HBE as a component of urban informalityhas become an alternative economic sector that is able to support citizens needs. There is a needto reconsider HBE activities from their positive contributions, which offset their negative effectson urban space. Using urban informality as a main concept, this research explain how HBE ininformal settlement area of Pejompongan Central Jakarta successfully created their socialnetwork through the ownership of social capital and give its effect to provide the citizen rsquo s needs.Qualitative research method with Actor Network Theory ANT as an approach shows themovement of HBE rsquo s social network has not only successfully become a new surviving strategyby informal settlement dwellers to free themselves from poverty, but also has successfully ableto form a new urban spatial configuration."
