"As we all know, the abortive coup which occured In the morning of the 1 st October 1965 (often called Gestapu or G-30-S/PKI) and Its aftermath, the destruction of the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI), caused many people were killed, particularly In Java and Ball. Estimates of the numbers killed varied from 78,000 to one million. Many of them are people who was not ought to be killed. This thesis analyzed Bowuk (1975, written by Umar Kayam) and Kubah (1980, written by Toharl) the two novels that tell the story about Gestapu. The aim of this thesis Is to find out a portrait whether why one (here is the protagonist of the story) claimed Involved or not Involved In such events were often said as one of the biggest tragedy in this century. As a tool of analyses, this thesis used Barthes's syntagmaticparadygmatic approach as theorical framework. choose the approach because it can lead to read the story carefully, so we can follow what the protagonist (and other characters) did moment by moment until he or her was considered to be involved In Gestapu. From the analyses I concluded that the Involvement of the two protagonists are different. It can be said that Bawuk (the protagonist of Bowuk), was Involved just because she tried to devote to her husband (Hassan, an activist of PK!) while on the other hand her husband was claimed as political fugitive. Meanwhile, the involvement of Karman (protagonist of Kuboh) Is more caused by the scenario of the communist party to recrut him as cadre. Recrutment of Karman has made possible by problems which surrounded him, whether as a man who can not marry his beloved gki (R(fah, the daughter of Haji Bakir) or as a member of the lowerer who had "class-conflict" with Haji Bakir, one who came from upper class."

"Sejarah dan sastra adalah dua aspek yang berbeda namun berjalan beriringan. Tulisan ini mengkaji kesejarahan dari tiga cerpen terpilih dalam buku kumpulan cerpen KontraS Berita Kehilangan. Kesejarahan yang diteliti adalah pelanggaran HAM pasca peristiwa G-30-S dan fakta penunjang lain. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan teori George Lukacs, yaitu historical faithfulness atau keharusan fakta sejarah untuk mengidentifikasi narasi dan peristiwa yang dianggap mengacu pada sejarah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap pelanggaran HAM sebagai unsur pembangun karya sastra. Penelitian ini juga menjabarkan informasi penunjang lain yang mengacu pada fakta sejarah. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Jawa Barat dan Bali sebagai latar geografis dari tiga cerpen terpilih memuat sejumlah pelanggaran HAM, sekaligus dinilai memiliki perbedaan konflik. Gejolak dalam masyarakat pasca peristiwa G-30-S di dua daerah tersebut tidak dapat dilepaskan dari pengaruh dan campur tangan militer.

History and literature are two different aspects which cross frequently. This paper analyze historical aspects in three selected short stories from KontraS Berita Kehilangan. This paper specifically examine the human rights violation after the G-30-S incident and describe other supporting facts. This study will use George Lukacs theory, namely historical faithfulness or the necessity of historical facts to identify narratives and events that are considered to refer to history. This study intends to reveal human rights violations as a component of literature’s structure. This study also describes other supporting information that refers to historical facts. The results of this study indicate that West Java and Bali, as the geographical settings of the three selected short stories, contain a number of human rights violations as well as being considered to have different conflicts. The chaos in society after the G-30-S incident in the two regions cannot be separated from the influence and interference of the military."
