[This book presents new insights into Freud’s famous “discovery” of the unconscious and the subsequent development of psychoanalytic theories. The authors explore the original context in which these ideas arose and the central debate about mind as matter or something that transcends matter. In the course of this examination, it is demonstrated that Freud was influenced not only by the 19th century scientific milieu, but also by ancient cultures. While it is known that Freud was an avid collector of ancient artifacts and generally interested in these older cultures, this book systematically investigates their profound effect on his thinking and theorizing. Two major influences, Egyptian mythology and Jewish mysticism are analyzed in terms of similarities to Freud’s emerging ideas about the mind and its diseases. , This book presents new insights into Freud’s famous “discovery” of the unconscious and the subsequent development of psychoanalytic theories. ABSTRAK
This paper concerns Freuds thoughts on religion. Religion is not only about faith in a great God, but also encompasses the order and discipline of life. Religion involves human relationships, either with God or with others. Freud saw religion as the fulfillment of a childish desire. This can not be separated from his work as a psychologist who produced the concept of psychoanalysis and human sexual stages. Freud disputed the basis of human trust claims by giving three mutually exclusive and holistically unsatisfactory reasons. First, we must trust without demanding proofs. Second, we must believe because our ancestors also believed and third, we must believe because we have evidence from ancient times. Freud contends that such beliefs are nothing more than an illusion.
ABSTRACT
Black Swan 2010 is a movie that depicts the struggle of a ballerina, Nina Sayers, who strives to play the lead role of Swan Lake ballet, which requires the dancer to perform two contrasting characters: the White and the Black Swan. The movie focuses on how Nina encounters hardships in portraying the Black Swan, mainly on the inner conflicts within herself. Several perspectives can be used to analyze this movie, such as gender studies and film theories, but this article will analyze the protagonist with a psychoanalytical study. Even though this movie has been discussed from the perspective of psychoanalysis by a number of scholars, there is no existing research which has studied the main character rsquo;s issue of sexual repression through Freud rsquo;s psychoanalysis. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how Nina Sayers rsquo; mind is associated with the complication of her sexual repression and how it contributes to her transition from the beginning until the end of the movie. This article will try to trace Nina rsquo;s sexual repression back to the concept of human rsquo;s structure of mind, defense mechanisms, and the splitting of ego.

......The Objective of this study is to find the representation of holocaust history in The Reader movie. This representation can be viewed by analyzing three main characters in the film, who are Ilana, Hanna, and Michael, and tracing their collective memory of the holocaust. Ilana represents the discourse of the survivors. Hanna represents the discourse of the perpetrators. Michael represents the discourse of the after-holocaust generation. The discourses are viewed by tracing their collective memory. The collective memory of each character is analyzed using the theory of personality structure and the dynamics of personality of Sigmund Freud. The analysis shows that in considering a dark past, individuals tend to repress their memory, especially memory which involves their own shame. In the process of this repression there is a conflict of interest between the Id in the form of past memories and the superego as values in today's society. Each character has the same model of conflict but in the context of different values. Finally, the discourse of holocaust history, which is the dark past, must be told of what it is to avoid fraud, conflict, and hatred among different generations, which is represented neutrally by Michael. This neutral discourse told that the three characters in the movie had made peace with their past memory.
