English-medium Instruction (EMI) has been used in Indonesia, especially in universities which have international programs. This research was conducted to find out the perspective of University X’s students from the International Undergraduate Program in the Faculty of Engineering on the effectiveness of the use of English-medium Instruction in their classrooms. This paper aims to answer two research questions: 1) The effects of the use of EMI on the students’ performance; 2) the students’ perception of using EMI in their classrooms. By using purposive and quota samplings, the students ranging from the first to the last year participated in this research by filling out a questionnaire in a Google Form. The data collected were analyzed quantitatively through Compare Means Test with SPSS version 25 and Microsoft Excel 2016 and qualitatively through a content analysis. From the analysis, it was found that there were not huge negative impacts on students’ learning process in the EMI classrooms. The respondents stated that the use of EMI needed to be improved; thus, the implementation would be much better. The results of this study show that the lecturers need to improve their English proficiency to implement effective EMI. Using more varied research instruments and quantitative method is proposed by the researcher as one of the suggestions for future research."
