Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kompleksitas identitas gender melalui lensa karakter Yuu Arima dalam manga Boy Meets Maria. Peneliti menerapkan teori performativitas gender yang dikemukakan oleh Judith Butler untuk memahami isu identitas gender pada karakter Yuu Arima. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa identitas gender pada karakter Yuu Arima bersifat cair, tergantung konteks, tidak tetap. Yuu Arima dapat dibaca sebagai gambaran dari keberagaman dan kompleksitas identitas gender. Perjalanan Arima dalam menemukan identitasnya tidak hanya untuk memenuhi ekspektasi sosial, tetapi juga merupakan eksplorasi pribadi yang membebaskannya dari konsepsi-konsepsi baku tentang gender. ......This research aims to describe the complexity of gender identity through the lens of the character Yuu Arima in the manga Boy Meets Maria. The researcher applies the theory of gender performativity proposed by Judith Butler to understand the issue of gender identity in the character Yuu Arima. The research results indicate that the gender identity of the character Yuu Arima is fluid, dependent on the context, not fixed. Yuu Arima can be read as an illustration of the diversity and complexity of gender identity. Arima's journey in finding his identity is not only to fulfill social expectations, but is also a personal exploration that frees him from standard conceptions of gender.
