"Keikutsertaan dalam perdagangan bebas memberikan dampak yang beragam bagi negara anggota. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa efek trade creation dan trade diversion dari implementasi ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement AKFTA pada lima 5 kategori produk manufaktur di Indonesia dengan 20 negara mitra dagang yang termasuk anggota dan non-anggota AKFTA periode 1990-2015. Metode estimasi menggunakan model gravity yang dimodifikasi dengan menambahkan variabel dummy FTA sebagai proxi dari dampak implementasi AKFTA dengan variasi model fixed effects. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya efek trade creation dan trade diversion dimana pada sisi impor menunjukkan efek yang hampir sama pada kelima klasifikasi produk, sedangkan sisi ekspor efeknya bervariasi untuk masing-masing klasifikasi produk.

The impact of a free trade agreement FTA establishment is different for each country involved. This paper highlights the effect of ASEAN Korea Free Trade Agreement AKFTA on Indonesian manufacturing products which devided into five categories of manufacturing goods. By using a panel data with augmented gravity model and fixed effects approach, this paper investigates evidence of trade creation and trade diversion effects of Indonesia with 20 trading partner countries, covering a 26 year period dating from 1990 2015. The results identified the presence of both trade creation and diversion effects. While the results on import side almost similar for five products classification, the results on export side vary among categories."

"ABSTRACTAlong with an attempt to promote the export performance of manufacturing goods, the number of investigation about the potential benefit or harm of free trade agreements is still weak in Indonesia. This paper highlights the effect of ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) on Indonesian export of manufacturing products since AKFTA as one of the significant initiatives in Southeast Asia is expected to boost Indonesian export. By using augmented gravity models with panel data, this paper investigates the presence of trade creation and trade diversion effects on Indonesian export with 20 trading partners, covering a 26-year period from 1990-2015. Fixed effects with least square dummy variable (LSDV) models are applied to tackle the endogeneity problems of FTA by controlling the unobserved heterogeneity. The results showed that trade diversion outweighs trade creation effects in almost all categories, confirming a decrease in export from member to non-member countries."

"Tesis ini membahas kepentingan Korea Selatan terhadap ASEAN dalam kerangka perjanjian kerjasama ASEAN-South Korea Free Trade Area (AKFTA). Pembahasan tesis ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif analitis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan faktor-faktor utama yang mendorong Korea Selatan melakukan FTA dengan ASEAN, adalah  faktor kondisi domestik dan kondisi perekonomian internasional. Kondisi domestikyaitu kebutuhan Korsel akan pasar ASEAN, Korea Selatan memiliki produk-produk unggulan, dan potensi meningkatkan keuntungan dalam sektor jasa dan investasi. Kondisi Internasional juga menjadi faktor yang diperhitungkan. Dalam hal ini peningkatan kerjasama FTA di lingkungan global dan regional.

This thesis discusses the interests of South Korea in the ASEAN framework agreement on ASEAN-South Korea Free Trade Area (AKFTA). This thesis based on qualitative research methods with descriptive analytical approach. The results of this study is to indicate the main factors that pushed South Korea make a FTA agreement with ASEAN, are domestic factor and international economic conditions. The domestic conditions is when South Korea's need in the ASEAN market, South Korea has kinds of superior products, and has potential to increased profits and investment in the services sector. International conditions also become a factor that taken into account. In this case FTA increased the cooperation in the linkage global and regional."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa efek trade creation dan trade diversion yang terjadi atas pembentukan kerjasama ACFTA, AKFTA dan AIFTA terhadap ekspor produk industri makanan dan minuman Indonesia dengan mitra dagang yang termasuk anggota dan non-anggota kerjasama. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 12 negara periode tahun 2005 – 2015 diestimasi menggunakan model gravity yang dimodifikasi dengan menambahkan variabel dummy FTA sebagai proxi dari dampak implementasi ACFTA, AKFTA dan AIFTA. Hasil estimasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi ACFTA, AKFTA dan AIFTA memberikan efek trade creation dan trade diversion yang positif dan signifikan terhadap ekspor produk industri makanan dan minuman Indonesia. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa implementasi ACFTA, AKFTA dan AIFTA menciptakan efek trade creation dengan meningkatkan perdagangan intra-regional antar negara anggota ACFTA, AKFTA dan AIFTA dan tidak terjadinya trade diversion dengan negara nonanggota.

This research is aimed to analyze the effect of trade creation and trade diversion which occurs on the establishment of such cooperation for the export of Indonesian food & beverage industry products with trading partners either with its members or non-members cooperation. This research was conducted by using a test from 12 countries in the period of 2005 – 2015 estimated using a modified gravity model by increasing the variable on dummy FTA as a proxy from the impact on the implementation of ACFTA, AKFTA and AIFTA. The estimate results of this research indicate that the implementation of ACFTA, AKFTA and AIFTA gives positive and significant effect of trade creation and trade diversion on export of Indonesian food and beverage products. This indicates that the implementation of ACFTA, AKFTA and AIFTA creates a trade creation effect by increasing intraregional trade between ACFTA, AKFTA and AIFTA member countries and not occur trade diversion with non-member countries.
