"Arsitektur Moderen Indonesia dibawa oleh para arsitek Belanda dari Eropa. Arsitektur moderen ini dalam perkembangannya mengalami perubahan-perubahan karena sebagian besar arsitektur tersebut menerapkan gagasan-gagasan yang bersumber dari jenis-jenis arsitektur yang sudah ada di Indonesia, baik itu arsitektur tradisional maupun arsitektur kolonial.Para arsitek Indonesia sendiri muncul sekitar tahun 1932. Ide-ide fungsionalis dan Intemaiionai Style sempat mengilhami mereka baik sebagai pengaruh dari para arsitek Belanda maupun sebagai hasil pendidikan arsitektur yang mereka dapatkan. Perjalanan Arsitektur Moderen Indonesia sejak masa awal kemerdekaan tersebut masih berlanjut sampai sekarang. Arsitektur jenis moderen ini terus dijajaki dan dikembangkan untuk menghasilkan kemungkinan-kemungkinan desain yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya."
