"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas mengenai kondisi lingkungan penyimpanan dokumen dan pengaruhnya terhadap koleksi yang dikelola ASEAN Secretariat Resource Centre. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memberikan gambaran kondisi lingkungan penyimpanan dokumen sehingga preservasi maksimum terhadap koleksi dapat dilakukan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus dengan desain penelitian non-eksperimental; data diperoleh dengan metode survei, observasi pasif, dan wawancara; sementara sampel diambil menggunakan teknik sistematis berstrata proporsional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi lingkungan penyimpanan secara umum dalam kondisi baik walaupun terdapat kekurangan, yaitu temperatur dan kelembapan yang fluktuatif. Kondisi lingkungan yang baik berbanding lurus dengan kondisi fisik dokumen yang disimpan di dalamnya. Kondisi fisik dokumen secara umum dalam kondisi baik, walaupun perlu dilakukan perhatian lebih terhadap koleksi laporan rapat di ruang arsip utama yang mulai mengalami penurunan kualitas. Adapun kendala yang dihadapi oleh ASEAN Secretariat Resource Centre adalah ketiadaan kebijakan preservasi dan konservasi serta kurangnya staf untuk melakukan tindakan maksimum.

ABSTRACTThis undergraduate thesis discusses the condition of document’s storage environment and its impact to collections managed by ASEAN Secretariat Resource Centre. The purposes of this research are to identify and to give overview about the condition of document’s storage environment so that maximum preservation efforts can be conducted. It uses case study approach with non-experimental research design; the data were collected through survey, passive observation, and interview methods; while the samples were taken using systematic stratified proportional sampling. The results show that the storage environment is generally in good condition, except that there is a drawback in the fluctuation of temperature and relative humidity. The condition of storage environment is in line with the condition of the document stored. The physical condition of the documents is generally good as well, although there is a necessity to give more attention to the collection of meeting reports stored in the main storage room because the physical quality of it is begun to decline. A lack of policies regarding preservation and conservation and a limited number of archival staff faced by the ASEAN Secretariat Resource Centre are the main obstacles to conduct maximum preservation efforts."
