......Although it is commonly agreed that health has positive impact on economic growth, the empirical evidence shows mixture findings. This study uses data of Burden of Disease (BOD) from Institute of Health Metric Evaluation (IHME) for health capital measurement and economic data for 87 countries from 1990-2018. Using panel threshold regression, we aim to detangle the impact of health on economic growth as the use of this approach may contribute to explaining the variability of the health impact on growth. The findings show that old dependency ratio is a good measure of threshold variable, separating the country groups into four. We found that the impact of burden of diseases is negative for all groups: the older and high income countries, the younger and low income countries, and the growing and middle income countries. When the population age structure is being considered, the impact of burden of diseases is found to be different by age structure. In the early stages of population aging, the burden of communicable diseases increases. The negative correlation between the burden of communicable diseases and economic growth is somehow weakened, which means that in the later stage of the aging population, the economic growth decreases compared to the previous ones. This study addresses several policy implications. First, the ageing population is exposed to noncommunicable diseases (NCD) due to unhealthy behavior in the past or due to degenerative issues, and also to communicable (CD) as the body immune decreases. This emphasizes the need to strengthen programs to ease the NCD and vaccination of older people to tackle the CD. Second, it is imperative to devote programs to curb the rising trend of NCD since early life. Third, among all countries from group three and four, programs to increase more access to health care and preventive programs are essential. Fourth, to minimize the burden of diseases, it is important to have a full evaluation of the economic advantages of health interventions, as well as predicted returns on investment for various policy alternatives. Fifth, it is crucial to promote labor market policies make sure people with physical limitations or disabilities can find paid employment.

This book introduces the recent developments in the field and provides major advances in fundamental theory of limit cycles. It considers near Hamiltonian systems using Melnikov function as the main mathematical tool. Split into two parts, the first focuses on the study of limit cycles bifurcating from Hopf singularity using normal form theory with later application to Hilbert’s 16th problem, while the second considers near Hamiltonian systems using Melnikov function as the main mathematical tool. Classic topics with new results are presented in a clear and concise manner and are accompanied by the liberal use of illustrations throughout. Containing a wealth of examples and structured algorithms that are treated in detail.
