"Numerical variations of teeth are common. Hypodontia considered being presence of less number of teeth in normal complement while extra teeth to normal dentition are considered as hyperdontia. Hypodontia and hyperdontia are two opposite numerical variations of human dentition and occurrence of these two conditions is called as
concomitant hypo-hyperdontia. The occurrence of hypo-hyperdontia in a patient is common. This report describes a rare occurrence of conical shape supernumerary teeth in premolar region and agenesis of tooth 55 and 81 in primary dentition and teeth 15, 25 and 41 in permanent dentition."

"Agenesis described as a certain developmental disorder that is a lacking in the number of teeth present intraorally. Hypodontia is an agenesis with the absence of one or several teeth. In most of the population, the prevalence is 3,5 - 6,5%, with 0,3-0,4% for a severe hypodontia (an absence of 6 teeth or more clinically). Agenesis affects permanent dentition more often than primary dentition, and the incidence of agenesis is greater in female than male patients. Agenesis might be a result of enviromental and genetic factors. It is necessary to have a comprehensive treatment for a case of hypodontia, which involves restorative, orthodontic, a prosthetic treatment based on the children's growth and development. In the present case, a patient of 6 years and 5 months old girl was diagnosed with severe hypodontia. The treatment of choice included a removable ortodontic appliance for the upper jaw and removable space maintainer for the lower jaw. The removable orthodontic appliance served as an interceptive orthodontic treatment to correct anterior crossbites, and the child will be refered to the orthodontist to treat a Class III skeletal malocclusion. The space maintainer was to be used until the patient's condition become favorable for a permanent fixed bridge or steel removable partial denture."

"Objective: The aim of this research was to determine the prevalence, distribution and association of developmental
alteration in tooth number with gender, location, and presence of delayed eruption of tooth among children who
attended to Student’s polyclinic of IIUM Kuantan, Malaysia. Methods: A cross sectional study on total 727
Orthopanthomograms (OPGs) of 3-17 years old children from April 2009 to July 2012. OPGs with presence of
alteration number were scrutinized to find out the prevalence, distribution and association. The data was analyzed
comparing gender, location and presence of delayed eruption and tested using Chi-square test. Results: Out of 727
OPGs, 71 OPGs showed developmental alteration in tooth number. The prevalence was 98/1000 OPGs within 3 years.
Among those 71 OPGs, the gender differences were: males (49.3%) and females (50.7%). Locations were found in
maxilla (45.1%), mandible (40.8%) and both (14.0%). The finding of delayed eruption was (7.0%). There were
significant differences between alteration in tooth number with location as (p < 0.05) while there were no significant
differences with gender and delayed eruption as (p > 0.05). Conclusions: This study showed that hyperdontia was
considerably lower than hypodontia. There was association between alteration in tooth number with location, but no
association with gender and delayed eruption."
