"ABSTRACTPenulisan karya tulis ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses perubahan rumah tinggal sebagai strategi dalam karir bermukim keluarga Betawi, serta mengidentifikasi preferensi karir bermukimnya tersebut. Adapun yang menjadi latar belakang penulisan ini karena fenomena bermukim keluarga besar Betawi yang tinggal bersama dalam satu hunian, yang kemudian dimasa mendatang diturunkan kepada para generasi penerusnya sehingga terbagi menjadi beberapa petak sesuai dengan jumlah keturunan yang dimiliki. Pada kasus ini sudah tentu terdapat beberapa penyesuaian dalam menentukan strategi bermukim, terlebih dengan jumlah kerabat yang cukup banyak di dalamnya. Berbagai proses perubahan fisik maupun non-fisik pada hunian pun banyak terjadi sehubungan dengan daur hidup pada masing-masing anggota keluarga yang terlibat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pola dan urutan perubahan pada suatu rumah tinggal yang akan disampaikan secara deskriptif melalui hasil observasi langsung. Subjek uji coba dalam pengamatan perkembangan ini adalah dua keluarga Betawi yang bermukim di wilayah padat penduduk Cengkareng, Jakarta-Barat, dimana setidaknya terdapat beberapa keluarga yang bermukim di dalamnya. "hr>""b>ABSTRACT"This paper aims to examine the process of changing of the residence as a strategy in the housing career of living Betawi families, as well as identifying their career preference for living. The background of this research is that there is an existence of phenomenon in a big Betawi family in which they live together in one residence. In the future, this residence or the house is being intherited to the next generation so that it is divided into several parts in accordance with the number of descendants owned. In this case there are certain adjustment in determining the settlement strategy, especially with the number of relatives who are in a quite a lot of number. Various processes of physical and non physical changes in the residence also occur in relation to the life cycle in each family member involved. This study aims to investigate the pattern and sequence of changes in a dwelling house that will be submitted descriptively through the results of direct observation. The experimental subjects in this developmental study are two Betawi families living in the densely populated areas of Cengkareng, West Jakarta. This is where at least there are some families who live inside one house."

"This paper undertakes an analysis of intra-urban variations in homeownership rates, using data drawn from the metropolitan area of Ibadan, Nigeria. The spatial pattern depicted revealed that homeownership rates roughly coincide with the pattern of the city's historical development. Furtheremore, the empirical analysis based on a multiple regression model revealed that the stage in family life cycle, availability of open space for futher residential development, the number of residential plots provided by public planning agencies and the section of the city in which the census tract is located were the key determinants of homewonership rates."

"Tesis desain ini berusaha untuk melihat dan menata kembali Kemang sebagai salah satu bagian kota Jakarta yang terlihat mendapatkan pengaruh budaya non lokal yang mempengaruhi unsur fisik dan non fisik kawasan tersebut mulai dari wajah bangunan, pembentukkan ruang kota dan pola kegiatan baru yang belum ada sebelumnya. Dalam hal ini budaya non lokal hadir secara bersama ? sama dengan budaya lokal dan melahirkan berbagai perbedaan (difference) dan keberagaman (diversity) di Kemang. Suatu kondisi penerimaan dan pemberian wadah bagi adanya perbedaan dan keberagaman merupakan bagian dari pendekatan konsep cosmopolitan.Penataan kembali kawasan Kemang dengan pendekatan cosmopolitan dimulai dengan terlebih dahulu melihat pola kegiatan dan pelaku serta terutama bagaimana hubungan saling mempengaruhi antara budaya lokal dan non lokal yang telah ada termasuk kontradiksi dan kesetaraan yang timbul kemudian. Pendekatan cosmopolitan yang berakar pada budaya lokal Betawi (teras Betawi) kemudian akan diterjemahkan dalam bentuk teras sebagai ?ruang bermain? yang tidak hanya memberi wadah bagi perbedaan dan keberagaman namun juga mampu mendorong terjadinya interaksi dengan orang asing/strangers dalam ruang kota.

In this thesis, I try to analyze and redesign Kemang as a part of Jakarta, which has been influenced by many non ? local cultures. These cultures give effects in the shaping of urban elements of Kemang, both physically and non - physically, from building elevation, the shaping of urban space and the pattern of new activities. In this case, non - local cultures exist together with the local cultures and all of these result in the appearance of many differences and diversities at Kemang. The condition of acceptance and giving space for many differences and diversities are the part of cosmopolitan concept, which is used as the approaching concept in this design thesis.By using the cosmopolitan concept, I try to redesign Kemang, first by analyzing the pattern of activities and the ?actors?, especially how local cultures and local cultures gives influences to each other, including the contradiction and equality which emerge after that. The cosmopolitan concept, based on the local culture, Betawi (teras Betawi), is translated into ?the playing space?, which not only gives spaces for many differences and diversities, but also can stimulate the interaction with many people from different backgrounds in urban space."
