Abstrak :
The expert authors in this book have chosen to study the social forces and mass mobilizations unleashed by economic change against the backdrop of a familiar political system that has been dysfunctional since the 2006 coup. It is striking that electoral politics has faded from view in this collection of essays. Political leadership also receives little attention, another sign of how the political system was damaged by the events of 2006.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang strategi gerakan red shirt dalam pemenangan Pheu Thai Party PTP pada pemilihan umum tahun 2011 di Thailand. Teori gerakan yang digunakan yaitu framing, resource mobilization, dan political opportunity oleh Doug McAdam, Sydney Tarrow, dan Charles Tilly. Gerakan red shirt menjalankan tiga strategi tersebut dalam mendukung pemenangan Pheu Thai Party pada pemilihan umum tahun 2011 di Thailand. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa red shirt membingkai gerakannya sebagai gerakan pro-demokrasi, dengan mobilisasi sumber daya adanya Red Villages dan sukarelawan yang diedukasi mengenai Pemilu, dan peluang politik berkoalisi dengan Pheu Thai Party. ...... This research discuss about red shirt movement strategy in the winning of Pheu Thai Party PTP at Thailand general election in 2011. Movement theory used are framing, resource mobilization, and political opportunity by Doug McAdam, Sidney Tarrow, and Charles Tilly. Red shirt movement run that three strategies for supporting Pheu Thai Party at Thailand general election in 2011. The result of this research shows that red shirt framed its movement as pro democracy movement, by mobilizing resource from Red Villages and volunteers that was educated about general election, and opportunity of coalition politics with Pheu Thai Party.

Skripsi ini memfokuskan peran kelompok Kaus Merah, seperti melakukan aksi pendudukan Hotel Royal Cliff Beach Resort, di Pattaya, mendirikan sekolah politik, dan melakukan aksi pendudukan di kawasan bisnis Ratchaprasong di Bangkok. Berbagai aksi yang dilakukan oleh kelompok Kaus Merah mengakibatkan instabilitas politik dan berpengaruh terhadap menurunnya popularitas Abhisit sebagai PM Thailand. Skripsi ini menggunakan teori kelompok penekan yang dikemukakan oleh Stuart Gerry Brown dan Edmund Burke, dimana kelompok penekan merupakan agen yang sangat penting dari partisipasi politik. Kelompok ini berupaya mempengaruhi dukungan rakyat melalui demonstrasi, petisi, memberikan pendidikan politik bagi anggotanya, dan melakukan aksi pendudukan objek-objek vital yang mengakibatkan situasi politik tidak stabil. ......This thesis focused at the role of Red Shirts, such as occupied the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, build a political school, and occupied Ratchaprasong business district in Bangkok. Various actions taken by the Red Shirt leads to political instability and take effect on Abhisit, The Prime Minister Of Thailand, to losing his popularity. This thesis looks at the theory of pessure group propounded by Stuart Gerry Brown and Edmund Burke, that Pressure groups are a very important agent of political participation. This groups seek to influence public support through activities such as demonstrations, petitions, provide political education for its members, and occupied on vital objects which resulted in unstable political situation.
