Ruang hijau merupakan sebuah ekosistem yang memiliki elemen-elemen tertentu untuk bekerja. Pada rumah sederhana yang tentunya berada dalam lahan yang terbatas, ruang hijau merupakan salah satu aspek yang sangat penting untuk mendukung tempat manusia bertinggal. Tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai pendukung fisik manusia untuk memenuhi kualitas dan kuantitas lingkungan, ruang hijau pun mendukung manusia secara psikis. Namun sayang sekali bahwa keberadaaan ruang hijau pada rumah sederhana yang memiliki keterbatasan lahan seringkali sengaja maupun tanpa sengaja dianakbawangkan karena dianggap tidak lebih bermanfaat daripada ruang lainnya/domestik. Hal ini menimbulkan berbagai cara pemanfaatan ruang hijau dalam rumah sederhana. Studi literatur akan membatasi bagaimana melihat bentuk dari elemen-elemen yang ada dalam ruang hijau melalui kacamata arsitek, insinyur, pemerintah dan manusia secara umum. Sementara, studi preseden pada dua rumah sederhana rancangan arsitek dan studi kasus pada dua rumah sederhana di sekitar kita dapat menumbuhkan manfaat yang berbeda tergantung dari bentuk pemanfaatannya. Teknologi yang dipakai dalam studi preseden juga dapat mendukung manfaat dan membentuk ruang hijau dengan wujud yang berbeda.

ABSTRACT
Greenspace is formed through ecosystem with elements within them. In the small houses which have limited space, greenspace is a very important aspect to support well-being. Not only does it serve as a physical support, but also to support the mental health. However, the existence of greenspace in houses which have limited space are often intentionally or unintentionally being forgotten for not being more beneficial than domestic space. This resulting in several utilization in small house greenspace. The undergraduate thesis aims to see the greenspace shape and elements through the eyes of architects, engineers, government and people in general with literature studies, precedent studies, and case studies as methods. The precedents studied on two small houses, while the case study was done on two small house with limited space to see different benefits on the form of their utilization. The technology used in the study could also support the idea on how to utilize and establish greenspaces in a different form and shape

Shelter sebagai hunian bagi manusia terus mengalami perkembangan hingga sekarang. Kemajuan teknologi dan inovasi yang terus bermunculan turut membantu dalam proses perkembangan tersebut. Seiring berjalannya waktu, pengadaan hunian terkendala dengan permasalahan populasi yang terus bertambah dengan lahan yang terbatas. Solusi hadir dengan cara yang berbeda dan disesuaikan dengan lingkungan sekitar atau lebih dikenal dengan lokalitas. Penerapan konsep compact house merupakan salah satu cara yang dilakukan dalam arsitektur hunian Jepang. Studi kasus dilakukan dengan melihat prinsip compact house di Jepang untuk kemudian dikaitkan dengan compact house di Indonesia. Di Indonesia konsep tersebut coba diterapkan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek lokalitas yang dimiliki. Di Jepang, dominasi aspek budaya pada lokalitas mempengaruhi konsep compact house. Sedangkan di Indonesia, lokalitas hadir sebagai respon terhadap iklim dalam mendukung konsep compact house.

ABSTRACT
Shelter as a shelter for humans had been developed until now. Advances in technology and innovation that keeps popping helped in the development process. Over time, the provision of shelter is plagued with problems of growing population with limited land. The solution comes in different ways and adapted to the surrounding environment or better known as the locality. The application of the concept of compact house is one way in which the Japanese residential architecture. The case study done by looking at the principles of the compact house in Japan for later attributed to the compact house in Indonesia. In Indonesia the concept of trying to apply by considering the locality owned. In Japan, the dominance of the cultural aspects of the locality affect the concept of the compact house. While in Indonesia, locality comes as a response to the climate in favor of the concept of compact house.

Shelters, kiosks, snack bars, market stalls, bus stops, telephone booths, toilets, advertising columns, ticket booths, mobile tents or housing units, emergency shelters, tourist information booths-this list of small, autonomously functioning buildings could be expanded almost infinitely. Small buildings shape our daily lives; they are found at the nearest street corner; they are present and indispensable, but as architecture they attract our attention only rarely. Yet these small structures occupy a definite place in the infrastructure of the city. Rather than focusing on the large attractions.
