Abstrak :
Ajang pencarian bakat di televisi melibatkan para peserta yang bersaing mendapatkan hadiah berdasarkan keahlian atau bakat unik masing-masing. Para juri menilai pertunjukkan para kontestan, dan banyak pula acara yang mengandalkan suara penonton atau pemirsa untuk menentukan peserta yang akan lolos atau tersisih. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat peran dari kemampuan bernyanyi dan penampilan peserta dalam kecenderungan penonton  untuk memberikan suaranya (voting) pada kontes The Voice. Responden (n = 90, 63 perempuan; 26 laki-laki; 1 non-biner) direkrut menggunakan metode convenience sampling dan diminta untuk mengisi kuesioner anonim seputar kemampuan bernyanyi kontestan dan penampilan mereka. Diperkirakan bahwa penonton akan lebih cenderung memilih kontestan yang berpenampilan unik dan memiliki kemampuan bernyanyi yang luar biasa, dengan efek kemampuan bernyanyi yang lebih menonjol pada peserta dengan penampilan yang unik. Analisis statistik menggunakan ANOVA dan perbandingan Post-hoc menemukan pengaruh penampilan fisik kontestan dan kemampuan bernyanyi pada perilaku memilih. Kontestan dengan kemampuan bernyanyi yang luar biasa lebih banyak menerima voting, yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar kemampuan atau bakat seorang penampil, terlepas dari penampilan fisik mereka, semakin besar pula pengaruhnya terhadap audiens mereka. ......Talent-based television programmes involve contestants competing for rewards based on their unique skills or talents. Judges evaluate contestants' performances, and many programs also rely on audience or viewers to determine which participants advance or are eliminated. This study is aimed at investigating the role of  singing ability and physical appearance of contestants audience's voting behaviour in The Voice. Respondents (n = 90, 63 females; 26 males; 1 non-binary) were recruited via convenience sampling and asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire regarding contestants’ singing ability and their appearance. It was predicted individuals are more likely to vote for contestants with quirky appearances and outstanding singing ability, with the effect of singing ability being more pronounced in those with quirky appearances. Statistical analyses using ANOVA and Post-hoc comparisons found a significant effect of contestant physical appearance and singing ability on voting behavior. The result partially supported the hypothesis listed. Contestants with outstanding singing ability were more likely to receive votes, suggesting that the greater a performer's ability or talent, regardless of their physical appearance, the greater their influence over their audience.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang tradisi masyarakat Pulau Sabu bernyanyi di atas pohon lontar, atau yang disebut masyarakat setempat kepue due. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk (1) mendeskripsikan tradisi lisan bernyanyi di atas pohon lontar masyarakat Pulau Sabu serta fungsinya, (2) membahas perkembangan yang terjadi dalam kegiatan bernyanyi di atas pohon lontar, (3) menjelaskan proses pewarisan tradisi bernyanyi di atas pohon lontar dalam masyarakat Pulau Sabu. Peneliti dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan melakukan pengamatan langsung ke beberapa narasumber yang tersebar di enam kecamatan di Kabupaten Sabu, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Berdasarkan penelitian yang sudah dilakukan, dapat diambil simpulan bahwa tradisi bernyanyi di atas pohon lontar yang dilakukan masyarakat Pulau Sabu merupakan tradisi lisan yang unik karena hanya terjadi di tempat tersebut, serta merupakan tradisi yang erat dengan nilai spiritualitas masyarakat setempat, sesuai dengan bahasan dalam penelitian ini. Proses pewarisannya pun terjadi secara organik di setiap generasi, karena konsistensi tradisi menyadap pohon lontar. ......This research discusses about tradition that happened only in Sabu Island, singing on the top of lontar trees. This research aims to (1) describe about oral lore in Sabu Island, singing on the top of lontar trees, (2) explain about the development of the tradition in this modern era, (3) explain about the inheritance process of singing culture in Sabu Island society, from generation to generation. Researcher used qualitative method to compose this research, by doing direct observation at six districts in Sabu Island, East Nusa Tenggara. Based on the research that has been conduct, researcher met the conclusion that the habit of people in Sabu Island, singing on the top of lontar trees, have a strong unique value because it’s only happened in that place, and religious value in society. The inheritance process happened organically in each generation because of their consistency in tapping the lontar trees.

Penelitian ini membahas gaya bahasa kiasan dalam lirik lagu Frozen Sing-A-Long versi Belanda dalam kanal Youtube Disney NL. Empat lirik lagu dari Frozen Sing-A-Long yang diteliti, yaitu Zullen Wij een Sneeuwpop Maken, Voor het Eerst na al die Jaren, Liefde Geeft Ons Ruim Baan, dan Laat het Los. Metode kualitatif yang digunakan dalam penelitian kepustakaan ini digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi gaya bahasa kiasan yang ada pada keempat lirik lagu itu. Teori gaya bahasa kiasan Keraf dan Wiertzema dan Jansen digunakan untuk memilah jenis gaya bahasa yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis gaya bahasa kiasan pada lirik lagu Frozen Sing-A-Long versi Belanda dalam kanal Youtube Disney NL, yaitu metafora, parabel, personifikasi, dan ironi. Keempat jenis gaya bahasa kiasan kiasan ini digunakan untuk menonjolkan aspek humor dan imajinasi dalam lagu. ......This research discusses the figures of speech in the Dutch song lyrics of 'Frozen Sing-A-Long in the Disney NL Youtube channel. Four songs in 'Frozen' Sing-A-Long. "Zullen Wij een Sneeuwpop Maken", "Voor het Eerst na al die Jaren", "Liefde Geeft Ons Ruim Baan", and "Laat het Los", are examined. The qualitative method is used in this library research to analyse the figures of speech in these song lyrics. Keraf's theory as well as Wiertzema and Jansen are used in the analysis. The research found that there are four types of figures of speech in the Dutch version of 'Frozen' Sing-A Long in the Disney Youtube channel, namely metaphor, parable, personification, and irony. These four figures of speech songs are used to highligh the humor and the image of the songs.

Abstrak :
Over the centuries, there has been reluctance among boys and men to become involved in some forms of singing. Perspectives on males and singing tackles this conundrum head-on as the first academic volume to bring together leading thinkers and practitioners who share their insights on the involvement of males in singing. The authors share research that analyzes the axiomatic male disinclination to sing, and give strategies designed to engage males more successfully in performing vocal music emphasizing the many positive effects it can have on their lives. Inspired by a meeting at the Australian symposium ?Boys and Voices?, which focused on the engagement of boys in singing, the volume includes contributions from leading authorities in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Europe.
