Adanya peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan nomor 56 dan 57 tahun 2014 yang bertujuan untuk meminimalisir kegiatan illegal fishing berdampak pada banyaknya kapal perikanan yang berhenti beroperasi. Salah satunya adalah KM. Mitramas 6 yang merupakan jenis kapal angkut ikan. Agar KM. Mitramas 6 dapat dioperasikan kembali, maka perlu adanya suatu terobosan yang dilakukan. Untuk itu pada Tugas Akhir ini, penulis hendak melakukan modifikasi pada KM. Mitramas 6 dengan tujuannya agar kapal dapat dioperasikan kembali sebagai kapal jenis lain. Modifikasi yang dilakukan adalah dengan melakukan utilisasi fungsi dari kapal angkut ikan menjadi kapal angkut barang dan penumpang. Modifikasi yang dilakukan mecakup modifikasi tata ruang, modifikasi sitem sanitari dan sewage, serta serta analisis konstruksi dari salah satu bagian pada kapal. Dari hasil yang didapat, diketahui bahwa kapal hasil modifikasi layak untuk dioperasikan menjadi jenis kapal angkut barang dan penumpang.
