Abstrak :
In this article, the writer states the presence and struggles of Protestant churches in Indonesia doing God’s mission within world’s largest Muslim population country. Firstly, the writer explains the challenges and strives of Protestant churches from the time of Dutch colonialism, Japanese colonization, until Indonesian independence which includes the Old Order and the New Order. This article also highlights Indonesian churches’ struggle of independence to release themselves from the control of Dutch government, fully leaning to Christ, as well as the strategic role of Christianity in preventing nation’s disintegration to make Indonesia one. After that, the writer then performs critical reflection on the struggles of Protestant churches in Indonesia from the perspective of Reformed theology. The writer found that the presence of Christian mission in Indonesia is far from the force of arms and economic greed. However, churches in Indonesia cannot detach themselves from various challenges and suffering in God’s mission which includes Evangelical Mandate and Cultural Mandate. Therefore, while they are still entrusted by Christ, churches in Indonesia ought to perform their dutiful calling faithfully and joyfully

Abstrak :
Tulisan ini berusaha memahami musik gereja Kristen Protestan dalam sudut pandang pemusik gereja volunteer. Sebagai pendahuluan, saya menekankan aspek keragaman dalam komunitas dan musik Kristen. Hal itu menjadi jalan masuk untuk memahami bahwa musik gereja tidak dilihat sebagai sebuah konsep atau pengetahuan abstrak melainkan tertanam dalam keseharian dan transformasi yang dimaknai di dalam sebuah rangkaian pengalaman. Penelitian ini menggunakan sudut pandang fenomenologi dengan artikulasi antara konsep pengalaman dan teori lifeworld. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pengamatan dan wawancara mendalam dengan tiga informan yang merupakan pemusik gereja ‘tanpa bayaran’. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ada lima aspek yang membentuk hubungan intersubjektivitas antara seorang pemusik dengan lingkungan di mana individu bermain, yaitu (1) proses skill mastering; (2) ambivalensi perasaan; (3) improvisasi; (4) regenerasi pemusik; (5) transformasi makna. Lima aspek ini mempengaruhi pemusik dalam memaknai ekspresi musik dalam konteks bermain maupun mendapat imbalan yang berujung pada nilai pemusik volunteer. ......This research tries to understand Christian Protestant Music from the perspective of volunteer church musician. As the beginning, i emphasizes aspects of diversity in Christian community and music. This is an entry point to understand that church music is not seen as a concept or abstract knowledge but embedded in everyday life and transformation that interpreted in a series of experiences. This study uses a phenomenological point of view with articulation between the concept of experience and theory of lifeworld. The research was conducted through observations and in-depth interviews with three informants who are church musicians 'without payment'. Based on the result of the study, there are five aspects that form the intersubjectivity relationship between a musician and environment in which individual play, namely (1) the process of mastering skills; (2) ambivalence of feeling; (3) improvisation; (4) musician regeneration; (5) transformation of meaning. These five aspects influence musicians in interpreting musical expressions in context of playing and getting rewards that result in the value of volunteer musicians.

Abstrak :
Meningkatnya jumlah pendeta Protestan yang merambah ke dunia politik merupakan sebab keprihatinan di Sinode Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor. Studi kualitatif ini menggunakan dalam analisis data wawancara mendalam dan observasi lapangan untuk menjelaskan mengapa dan bagaimana konflik peran pendeta-politisi terjadi. Dalam kasus di mana seorang individu dikaitkan dengan kedua peran tersebut, konflik peran akan terjadi. Ditemukan juga bahwa terjadinya konflik peran sebenarnya mencerminkan proses role exit dari peran sebagai seorang pendeta. Namun, jika proses peran keluar tidak selesai, dapat menyebabkan kerusakan terhadap aktor yang terkait dengan pendeta, yaitu jemaat gereja dan Sinode. ......The rising numbers of protestant pastors venturing into politics is a cause of concern in the Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) Synod. This qualitative study used in-depth interview data analysis and field observation in order to explain why and how the role conflict of pastor-politicians happened. In the case where an individual is associated with both roles, a role conflict will occur. It was also found that occurrence of role conflict actually reflects the process of role exit from the role as a pastor. However, if the process of role exit is not completed, it might cause harm towards the actors associated with a pastor, which is the congregation and the Synod.

Abstrak :
Penelitian dalam skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan mengapa terjadi penyatuan jemaat dalam Gereja Protestan di Indonesia bagian Barat (GPIB), antara jemaat berbahasa Belanda dan jemaat berbahasa Indonesia. Terjadinya kegiatan pelayanan jemaat dalam dua bahasa telah terjadi sebelum GPIB terbentuk dan masih dikelola sepenuhnya oleh Gereja Protestan di Indonesia (GPI) sejak masa kolonial. Terjadinya pemisahan yang disebabkan perbedaan bahasa, terus diupayakan untuk dipersatukan semenjak GPIB terbentuk pada tanggal 31 Oktober 1948. Namun kelompok Jemaat berbahasa Belanda tetap menginginkan terjadinya pemisahan karena adanya perbedaan pola pikir dan tingkah laku dengan Jemaat berbahasa Indonesia. Perbedaan tersebut dikarenakan perbedaan latar belakang pendidikan dan sosial antara kedua bagian jemaat sebagai pengaruh kehidupan kolonial. Sebaliknya jemaat berbahasa Indonesia tidak memiliki masalah jika jemaat dipersatukan. Usaha untuk rnempersatukan tidak pernah sungguh-sungguh tercapai hingga tahun 1958 ketika terjadinya pemulangan besar-besaran warga negara Belanda kembali ke negaranya. Pemulangan tersebut disebabkan mernburuknya hubungan politik kedua negara (Belanda dan Indonesia) karena kasus Irian Barat. Pulangnya warga negara Belanda berdampak terhadap berkurangnya anggota jemaat berbahasa Belanda. Akibatnya proses ke arah kesatuan jemaat dapat segera diwujudkan. Pada Sidang Sinode V GPIB (1958) diputuskan untuk menyatukan kedua bagian jemaat. Faktanya penyatuan itu baru terwujud hingga 1 Juni 1961 ketika Jemaat Jakarta mengakhiri ibadah/kebaktian berbahasa Belanda.
