Abstrak :
Tulisan ini merupakan tinjauan pustaka dengan topik soft power Korea Selatan. Pemilihan ini berangkat dari negara Korea Selatan yang dalam perkembangannya telah mengalami perkembangan signifikan dari ekonomi dan budaya yang semakin mengglobal akibat budaya populernya, Korean Wave. Terdapat total 38 literatur kontemporer yang diterbitkan dari tahun 2010 hingga 2021. Tinjauan pustaka ini dibagi menjadi enam tema utama, yakni: 1) soft power dalam upaya kepemimpinan Korea Selatan; 2) kajian soft power dalam institusi politik Korea Selatan; 3) peranan aktor non-negara dalam soft power Korea Selatan; 4) kebijakan luar negeri Korea Selatan dalam soft power; 5) soft power nilai politik demokrasi dan sentimen nasionalisme Korea Selatan; dan 6) soft power kebudayaan Korea Selatan. Dari keenam tema dan kategorisasi literatur ini, penulis kemudian menganalisis tentang konsensus, perdebatan, dan sintesis yang ada. Penulis menemukan bahwa perkembangan kajian soft power Korea Selatan dalam studi Ilmu Hubungan Internasional termasuk baru berkembang dan memiliki beberapa kesenjangan untuk pembahasannya, ditambah dengan konsep soft power yang juga masih sangat diperdebatkan. Banyak dari bahan bacaan yang sama-sama melihat Korea Selatan sebagai debat tentang motivasi dan intensi Korea Selatan di balik penggunaan soft power. Kajian softpower Korea Selatan masih memiliki ruang untuk dibahas, salah satunya dari perspektif post-positivisme. ......This paper is a literature review on the topic of South Korean soft power. The topic of this paper was chosen due to South Korea’s significant economic development and its popular culture or Korean Wave success. With a total of 38 literatures published between 2010 to 2021, this literature review found six main themes, namely: 1) soft power in South Korean leadership efforts; 2) soft power studies in South Korean political institutions; 3) the role of non-state actors in South Korea's soft power; 4) South Korea's foreign policy in soft power; 5) soft power of South Korean democratic political values ​​and sentiments of nationalism; and 6) the soft power of South Korean culture. This literature review then discusses the existing consensus, debate, and synthesis. The author found that the growth of South Korean soft power studies in the study of International Relations is relatively new and has several gaps for discussion, in addition to the idea of soft power which is also extensively discussed. Many of the literatures share the same view of South Korea as a middle power, while arguing over South Korea’s motivations and intents behind the deployment of soft power. There is still area for debate in the study of soft power of South Korea, one of which is from the perspective of post-positivism.

Abstrak :
Penyebaran hallyu (한류) melalui media webtoon atau webcomics merupakan metode baru yang dilakukan oleh Korea Selatan dalam menyebarkan kebudayaan, khususnya di bidang kuliner. Hal ini didukung dengan perkembangan teknologi dan juga meningkatnya pembaca manhwa (만화) atau komik buatan Korea Selatan melalui aplikasi Line Webtoon. Mukbang Life merupakan webtoon asal Korea Selatan yang sudah diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Mengangkat tema tentang kuliner Korea Selatan, Mukbang Life menjadi salah satu webtoon yang turut menyebarkan budaya kuliner Korea Selatan. Fokus permasalahan yang dibahas adalah peran webtoon berjudul Mukbang Life dalam membentuk persepsi pembacanya terhadap budaya kuliner Korea Selatan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui persepsi pembaca Mukbang Life terhadap penggambaran budaya kuliner yang ditampilkan dalam webtoon tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei deskriptif dalam menjawab pertanyaan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan faktor tema dan teknis berperan dalam membangun persepsi pembaca webtoon Mukbang Life. Pembaca memersepsikan penggambaran kuliner Korea dalam Mukbang Life sebagai sumber informasi yang menambah pengetahuan terkait kuliner Korea. Dengan demikian, webtoon dinilai memiliki potensi sebagai media yang mengenalkan budaya kuliner Korea secara global. ......The spread of Hallyu (한류) through webtoon or webcomics is a new method used by South Korea in spreading culture, especially in the culinary field. The use of this medium is supported by technological developments and the increasing number of readers of manhwa (만화) or comics made in South Korea through the Line Webtoon application. Mukbang Life is a webtoon from South Korea that has been translated into Indonesian. With the theme of South Korean cuisine, Mukbang Life is one of the webtoons that helps spread South Korean culinary culture. The problem focused on this study is the role of the webtoon Mukbang Life in shaping its readers' perception of South Korean culinary culture. This study aims to determine the perception of Mukbang Life readers on the depiction of culinary culture displayed in the webtoon. This study uses descriptive survey method to answer research questions. The results showed that the theme and technical factors played a role in building the perception of Mukbang Life webtoon readers. Readers perceive the depiction of Korean cuisine in Mukbang Life as a source of information that increases knowledge related to Korean cuisine. Thus, webtoon is considered to have potential as a medium that introduces Korean culinary culture globally.

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi di era globalisasi saat ini memberikan dampak yang besar terhadap penyebarluasan Korean Wave atau Hallyu, yakni penyebarluasan budaya Populer Korea secara global. Keberhasilan Korean Wave atau Hallyu dalam memperkenalkan budaya populer Korea kendati terdapat perbedaan latar belakang budaya perlu dijadikan perhatian. Mengingat hal tersebut, penulis menggunakan metode studi literatur dengan pengkajian reflektif dalam usaha mengetahui fenomena Korean Wave atau Hallyu secara luas. Hasilnya keberhasilan fenomena ini tidak lain karena keberhasilan Korean Wave atau Hallyu dalam memainkan peran emosi. Emosi hadir akibat adanya reaksi tubuh terhadap kehadiran produk Korean Wave atau Hallyu pada diri seseorang, seperti penggemar yang merasakan bahagia karena ia gemetar setelah menyaksikan idolanya secara langsung. Hal ini sesuai dengan teori emosi William James yang menjelaskan bahwa emosi hadir karena adanya reaksi tubuh melalui persepsi terhadap rangsangan yang terjadi pada eksternal tubuh manusia. Penelitian ini berfokus pada reaksi ketubuhan yang terjadi melalui persepsi sebagai pemicu ketertarikan emosional terhadap fenomena Korean Wave atau Hallyu. ......The development of information and communication technology in current era of globalization has a huge impact on the spread of Korean Wave or Hallyu, which is the spread of Korean popular culture globally. The success of the Korean Wave or Hallyu in introducing Korean popular culture despite differences in cultural backgrounds need to be taken into attention. In consideration of this, the author uses the literature study method with reflective assessment in an attempt to know the Korean Wave or Hallyu phenomenon at a large scale. As as result, the success of this phenomenon is due to the success of the Korean Wave or Hallyu in playing role of the emotions. Emotions are present due to the bodily reaction to the presence of Korean Wave or Hallyu product in a person, such as a fan who feels happy because he is trembling after witnessing his idol live. This is in accordance with William James’ theory of emotion which explains that emotions are present due to bodily reactions through perception of stimuli that occur in the external human body. This research focuses on bodily reactions that occur through perception as a trigger for emotional attraction to the phenomena of Korean Wave or Hallyu.
