Sebagai alat komunikasi dalam interaksi sosial, bahasa juga berperan penting dalam menjaga hubungan sosial di antara pemakainya. Dalam berkomunikasi, terdapat prinsip-prinsip kerjasama yang mengatur kita dalam berkomunikasi. Prinsip-prinsip kerjasama tersebut terdiri dari beberapa maksim. Namun, dalam prosesnya, kita seringkali melanggar maksim-maksim tersebut dengan tujuan sebagai strategi menarik perhatian kawan bicara. Dalam film Madagascar 3: Europe‟s Most Wanted terdapat banyak pelanggaran maksim sebagai strategi persuasi. Dengan menggunakan teori implikatur percakapan, teori retorik, dan teori-teori lain, seperti teori kesantunan, teori co-active persuasion, dan teori relasi kuasa, akan membantu untuk menganalisis pelanggaran maksim sebagai strategi persuasi. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah pelanggaran maksim dapat digunakan sebagai strategi persuasi.

As social beings, we cannot be separated from social interaction and communication. We need to interact and communicate with other people. As we all know, to communicate and interact with other people, of course, we need a language. Language is foremost a means of communication and interaction. As a communication tool in social interaction, language is also important in keeping a good social relation among language users. There are cooperative principles which control us in the way we communicate with others. The cooperative principles contain some maxims. Yet, in the middle of conversation, we usually flout or violate the maxims in order to attract the hearers. In the movie Madagascar 3: Europe‟s Most Wanted, there are so many flout of maxims or exploit of maxims which is done by Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria as a persuasion strategy. By using conversational implicature theory, rhetoric theory, and some theories like politeness theory, co-active persuasion theory, and power relation theory will help to analyze this research on the use of flouting maxims and violating maxims as persuasion or rhetoric strategy. The finding of this research is that flout of maxims or exploit of maxims can be used as persuasion strategy."
