......Living arrangements of the elderly indicates the availability social support sources. The elderly who live with family are more likely to be healthier due to the availability of familial care, attention, and other social supports. On the other hand, the elderly who do not have the availability of family support will experience loneliness which will in turn affect their health. This study aims to obtain an overview of the level of functional impairment in the elderly, as well as to study the relationship between living arrangements and functional impairment. The September 2018 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) was used as the data source by using descriptive and inferential analysis (Ordinal Logistic Regression). The functional impairment score results indicated that, on average, the elderly in Indonesia were in young elderly age group who still have the ability to function well. This study also found that the elderly who live alone tend to experience functional impairment in walking/climbing the stairs, remembering/concentrating, and worse behaviours/emotions than the elderly who live with family. Similar tendency was also found in elderly who only live with spouse. They were likely to experience functional impairment in walking/climbing the stairs, remembering/concentrating, and worse behaviours/emotions than the elderly who live with family.
