Occupational therapy is an allied health profession, which is concerned with the use of interventions and assessments to recover, maintain, and develop meaningful activities for individuals, groups or communities. It has developed owing to the philosophical ideals of humanism, pragmatism and romanticism. It primarily works with people who suffer from injuries, disabilities, health problems or impairments. Support for adults experiencing physical and cognitive impairment, injury rehabilitation and assistance to children with disabilities are under the scope of this field. Stroke merupakan penyakit yang sangat serius karena keganasan dan dampak yang ditimbulkan. Dampak utama dari stroke adalah kecacatan yang mengganggu pada kemandirian. Terapi okupasi membantu mencegah kecacatan dan mengembangkan fungsi kemandirian. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh terapi okupasi dalam pengembalian kemandirian penderita stroke. Metode yang digunakan adalah cohort retrospektif. Sampel penelitian ini adalah penderita stroke yang mengikuti terapi okupasi dan yang tidak mengikuti terapi okupasi di Instalasi Rehab Medik RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Ditkesad pada tahun 2011. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terapi okupasi memiliki pengaruh yang besar dalam mengembalikan kemandirian penderita stroke (RR=2,4, 95%CI=1,038-5,705, p-value=0,041). Intervensi terapi okupasi diberikan kepada semua penderita stroke sehingga banyak penderita stroke kembali mandiri. ......Stroke is a disease that is very serious because the ferocity and impact. The main impact of stroke is a disability that interferes with the independence. Occupational therapy to help prevent disability and develop independence functions. The purpose of this study to know the effect of occupational therapy in stroke survivors return independence. The method used was a retrospective cohort. The sample was stroke patients following the occupational therapy and occupational therapy that does not follow in the Installation Medical Rehab RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Ditkesad in 2011. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The results of this research is occupational therapy has a great influence in restoring the independence of people with stroke (RR=2,4, 95%CI=1,038-5,705, p-value=0,041). Occupational therapy intervention given to all patients with stroke so many stroke survivors back themselves.
