Pada tahun 2015, isu mengenai pengungsi kembali menjadi perbincangan hangat di Jerman. Peningkatan jumlah pengungsi yang masuk ke Jerman dalam beberapa tahun terakhir membuat topik ini diangkat ke dalam beberapa film, contohnya film Hotel California. Film ini merupakan sebuah film pendek yang diproduksi oleh ABC Bildungs- und Tagungszentrum e.V., yang menceritakan tentang kehidupan pengungsi di Jerman. Melalui film ini, penulis menganalisis identitas pengungsi yang terbentuk serta ideologi apa yang terdapat dalam film. Film dianalisis sebagai sebuah teks. Adegan yang dianggap penting akan dipilah dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori representasi dan identitas kultural Stuart Hall. ...... In 2015, the issue of refugees become a hot topic in Germany. The increasing number of refugees who have entered Germany in recent years has made this topic raised in several films, for example Hotel California. Hotel California is a short film produced by ABC Bildungs und Tagungszentrum e.V., which tells of the life of refugees in Germany. Through this film, the author analyzes the identity construction of refugee and reveal what ideology contained in the film. The film will be analyzed as a text. The important scenes will be sorted and analyzed using the theory of representation and cultural identity of Stuart Hall.

Film Das Leben der Anderen merupakan film tentang Jerman Timur pada tahun 80-an yang di mana pada masa tersebut Stasi merupakan polisi keamanan negara yang sedang berkembang pesat serta ditakuti masyarakat DDR. Melalui film ini, peneliti akan menganalisis konstruksi citra Stasi dan nilai-nilai humanisme melalui adegan, narasi dan perubahan karakteristik pada tokoh utama film yaitu Wiesler. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis tekstual. Teks yang dianalisis adalah adegan dan narasi dalam film. Teori dari Peter Seligman digunakan untuk menganalisis nilai humanisme. Dari hasil penelitian terdapat nilai-nilai humanisme seperti rasa simpati, kepedulian dan solidaritas. Lalu citra Stasi dalam film ini dikonstruksikan secara berbeda dari film-film Jerman dengan tema yang serupa. Film ini menawarkan citra lain Stasi dan mendeskripsikan kehidupan di Jerman Timur secara umum

ABSTRACT
Das Leben der Anderen is a movie about East Germany in the 80s which at that time Stasiwas a fast-growing state security police and also feared by DDR citizen. On this film, researcher analyse the image of Stasithat is constructed and the value of humanism through scenes, narration and the development of characteristic of the main character of the film, which is Wiesler. A textual analysis method is used. The analysed text includes scenes and narration of the film. A theory on value of humanity of Peter Seligman is used on this research. Theory by Stuart Hall, and Syariati are used as a supporting theory for the study. The result shows that there are representations of humanity value such as sympathy, caring and solidarity. The results also showing that the image of Stasi in this film is constructed differently from any similar themed German film. This film offers the audience differen image of Stasiand describes East Germany life in general

Adaptasi novel menjadi sebuah film semakin banyak dilakukan dalam industri perfilman, termasuk industri perfilman Hollywood. Film The Reader karya sutradara Stephen Daldry merupakan adaptasi dari novel Jerman Der Vorleser karya Bernhard Schlink. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi dari karakter dan strategi yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama perempuan, Hanna Schmitz, dalam menutupi identitas buta hurufnya. Penelitian ini juga membahas konstruksi naratif yang membangun identitas tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter yang dimiliki oleh tokoh dapat menunjukkan kebutahurufan yang dimilikinya. Selain itu, strategi yang ia lakukan untuk menutupi identitasnya tersebut memiliki maksud dan tujuan tertentu. Unsur naratif seperti tokoh dan penokohan, latar ruang dan waktu serta plot berperan penting dalam mendukung penggambaran identitas dari tokoh utama. Sehingga film ini merupakan suatu hiburan massa yang berskala internasional.

Adaptation of novels into films is increasingly being carried out in the film industry, including in Hollywood. The Reader is a film directed by Stephen Daldry based on an adaptation of the German novel Der Vorleser by Bernhard Schlink. This study discusses the representation of character and strategies undertaken by the female lead character, Hanna Schmitz, in hiding her own identity. This study also discusses the narrative construction that builds that identity. The results showed that the characters possessed by the main characters can show her illiteracy. Also besides, the strategies used to determine her identity have certain goals and objectives. Narrative elements such as characters and characterizations, place and time settings and plots are important aspects in supporting the portrayal of the identity of the main character. Therefore all of those aspects are making this film a mass collection on an international scale.

Kehadiran para pengungsi ke wilayah Eropa pada tahun 2015 telah menciptakan perhatian yang beragam dari masyarakat Eropa, baik yang mendukung maupun tidak. Film Je Suis Karl karya Christian Schwochow adalah salah satu film yang membahas gerakan dengan sentimen anti-pengungsi dan bentuk propagandanya. Film ini menjadi salah satu bentuk kritik terhadap gerakan anti-pengungsi di Eropa, khususnya Jerman. Berbagai tindakan yang dilakukan oleh gerakan Re/Generation Europe dalam film Je Suis Karl menampilkan secara jelas kepada penonton bagaimana gerakan tersebut merencanakan dan melakukan aksi penyebaran propaganda anti-pengungsi kepada masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bagaimana penggambaran bentuk-bentuk propaganda anti-pengungsi ditampilkan dalam film Je Suis Karl. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan didukung oleh teori teknik propaganda dari Alfred McClung Lee & Elizabeth Briant Lee. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk propaganda anti-pengungsi yang ditampilkan dalam film Je Suis Karl melalui gerakan Re/Generation Europe berisikan tuduhan tak berdasar mengenai pengungsi yang direncanakan dengan penuh manipulasi untuk melancarkan penyebaran sentimen anti-pengungsi yang merupakan kepentingan mereka sebenarnya. ......The presence of refugees to the European region in 2015 has created mixed attention from the European community, both supportive and non-supportive. Christian Schwochow's film, Je Suis Karl, is one of the films that discusses the movement of anti-refugee sentiment and its forms of propaganda. This film became a form of criticism of the anti-refugee movement in Europe, especially Germany. The various actions taken by the Re/Generation Europe movement in the film Je Suis Karl clearly show the audience how the movement plans and carries out actions to spread anti-refugee propaganda to the public. This study aims to show how the depiction of forms of anti-refugee propaganda as shown in the Je Suis Karl film. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative, supported by the theory of propaganda techniques from Alfred McClung Lee & Elizabeth Briant Lee. The results of this study indicate that the form of anti-refugee propaganda shown in the film Je Suis Karl through the Re/Generation Europe movement contains baseless accusations about refugees that are planned with full of manipulation to launch the spread of anti-refugee sentiment which is their real interest.
