"Setiap kota di Indonesia memiliki rumah tradisional masing-masing dengan atap sebagai objek utama untuk memperlihatkan identitas daerah. Rancangan bangunan modern dengan penempelan atap gonjong menjadi cara yang umum digunakan di Kota Padang untuk memperlihatkan identitas tersebut. Skripsi ini merupakan studi untuk memahami lebih jauh tentang perancangan bersifat kedaerahan dalam arsitektur yaitu regionalisme. Untuk mengetahui apa urgensi penerapan teori regionalisme pada bangunan modern di daerah dan apa kaitan antara arsitektur modern pada bangunan studi kasus dengan teori regionalisme. Metode yang digunakan adalah menguji teori critical regionalism terhadap studi kasus Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat di Kota Padang pada konteks perancangan untuk menemukan penerapan regionalisme dalam arsitektur modern serta paradox.

Every city in Indonesia has its own traditional house with the roof as the main object to show the identity of the region. Modern buildings rsquo s design with gonjong roof became the common way used in Padang City to show that identity.
