"Skripsi ini terdiri dari 5 bab, dan 3 bab merupakan inti dari buah pikiran penulis tentang tinjauannya secara filosofis terhadap matematika. Pada bab pertama selain memuat tema, metode dan sistematika penulisan juga secara ekplisit diberikan argumen dipilihnya judul dari skripsi. Karena penulis sangat prihatin atas terlupakannya ilmu-ilmu bantu seperti matematika oleh para pengguna dan pengembang matematika ini. Untuk selanjutnya diharapkan dengan pemahaman agak mendalam terhadap matematika, para pengguna dan pengembang sadar dan tahu bahwa ilmu-ilmu bantu seperti matematika, fisika, kimia dan lain sebagainya dapat bahkan penting untuk pengembangan ilmu dan teknologi. Metodologi matematika selama ini metode yang dipergunakan sering berubah-ubah namanya, dalam skripsi ini menggunakan metode deduksi dan aksiomatisasi. Apakah deduksi dan apa aksiomatisasi dapat diikuti pada bab 3, secara sengaja dipakai ilustrasi pada model-model matematika yang telah popular. Pada bab 4 berisi epistemologi dan ontologi dalam matematika. Kajian episternologi matematika mencari jawab dari mana sumber-sumber matematika, batas-batasnya dan juga. metodenya: Ontologi matematika tidak mempermasalahkan adanya matematika; tetapi adanya obyek-obyek di dalam matematika. Orang telah telanjur latah menyebut garis, titik, dan bidang di dalam lima ukur datar. Tetapi apakah hakekat dari garis, titik, dan sebagainya? Adakah hal-hal tersebut didunia nyata atau hanya ada di dalam ide saja, jawaban ini beraneka ragam menurut paham dan aliran-aliran filsafat yang dianut; Pada paham logisme mengatakan bahwa hakekat matematika adalah logika, tetapi aliran formalisme menekankan segi-segi formal."

"This book brings together philosophers, mathematicians and logicians to penetrate important problems in the philosophy and foundations of mathematics. In philosophy, one has been concerned with the opposition between constructivism and classical mathematics and the different ontological and epistemological views that are reflected in this opposition. The dominant foundational framework for current mathematics is classical logic and set theory with the axiom of choice (ZFC). This framework is, however, laden with philosophical difficulties. One important alternative foundational programme that is actively pursued today is predicativistic constructivism based on Martin-Löf type theory. Associated philosophical foundations are meaning theories in the tradition of Wittgenstein, Dummett, Prawitz and Martin-Löf. "
