"Terlepas dari perkembangan pesat industri pariwisata yang menyebabkan berkembang pula kegiatan dan produk jurnalisme perjalanan masih sedikit akademisi dan praktisi yang melakukan studi mengenai jurnalisme perjalanan Salah satunya Folker Hanusch 2010 yang melalui artikel akademiknya memaparkan signifikansi serta memformulasikan empat dimensi dari jurnalisme perjalanan yakni mediasi kultural standar etika orientasi pasar dan aspek motivasi Penulis melakukan review terhadap artikel tersebut dengan melakukan komparasi dengan tesis Candeeda R Hill James 2006 di mana ia menekankan tanggung jawab jurnalis perjalaan untuk mengangkat hakikat wisata di ruang publik agar dapat memperoleh kerangka kerja jurnalisme perjalanan yang lebih komprehensif Meskipun pada konsep dasar jurnalisme perjalanan keduanya memiliki pandangan yang sama tetapi pada analisis turunannya terdapat beberapa perbedaan yang menunjukkan kompleksitas jurnalisme perjalanan.
