Abstrak :
Mohammed Arkoun is one of international modern Islamic thinkers that his thought comes into Islamic thinking discourses in Indonesia recently. His Islamic thought was influenced by the modern philosophical concepts such as ‘myths’ of Ricouer, postmodern concepts like ‘discourse’ and ‘episteme’, which were developed by Foucault as well as ‘deconstruction’ of Derrida. If Derrida focused on deconstruction as a final concept, on the other hand Arkoun insisted that ‘deconstruction’ must be followed by ‘reconstruction’ of a discourse. Arkoun’s reconstruction leaves the limitation, the rigidity and deviation from the past. Arkoun proposes two ways: firstly it is ‘ijtihad’ and subsequently it is Islamic critical reason with the whole of critical meaning. In this research I used the method of library investigation. Based on the result I came into the conclusion that Arkoun loss the communication with the scholars in the Islamic world, particularly in the Middle East tradition. Since, he applied the method of deconstruction that Islamic world percept it was going too far.

Cerita yang disajikan dalam buku ini merupakan kisah-kisah yang dikumpulkan Nadirsyah Hosen (Gus Nadir). Kisah-kisah ini dialaminya sendiri selama tinggal di negeri Kangguru.Dengan gaya khasnya yang ringan, dosen di Monash University ini mengajak kita memahami Al-Qur'an dan Hadis dengan pikiran yang lebih terbuka dan tidak kaku.Meski terjadi di Australia, kisah-kisah Gus Nadir ini sangat relevan untuk pembaca Indonesia, terutama di tengah maraknya sikap-sikap merasa benar sendiri saat ini.

Penulisan mengenai Yusuf Qardhawi ini dilakukan selama beberapa bulan, dari bulan Juli sampai bulan Desember 1994. Tujuan penulisan ini untuk mengetahui riwayat hidup Qardhawi dan aspek pemikirannya yang mewarnai berbagai tulisan dan tema pembicaraannya..

Pengumpulan bahan skripsi ini seluruhnya dari studi kepustakaan yang diambil dari beberapa buku karangan Qardhawi, majalah, koran dan beberapa tulisan pengarang lain yang mendukung pembahasan tema ini.

Dari penulisan ini penulis menyimpulkan bahwa Qardhawi seorang tokoh ulama Islam yang merniliki pandang pertengahan atau moderat dalam menilai masalah-masalah agama dan persoalan umat. Pandangannya ini di pengaruhi oleh kedalaman pengetahuannya tentang syariat Islam dan pengaruh yang ia peroleh dari tokoh-tokoh yang ia temui

Qardhawi sangat menganjurkan pelaksanaan pembaharuan dan ijtihad seluas mungkin dan mendorong mereka yang mampu untuk melakukannya. Pembaharuan yang diingininya adalah model pembaharuan yang be'rpegang teguh pada nash-nash yang pasti dan pendapat ulama terdahulu, namun berani dan mampu mengambil berbagai kemajuan ilmu dan peradaban modern...
