"Hipertensi merupakan penyakit degeneratif yang mempunyai prevalensi tinggi di Indonesia. Banyak pasien hipertensi mengombinasikan antihipertensi konvensional dengan obat bahan alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penggunaan obat bahan alam yang digunakan secara bersamaan dengan antihipertensi konvensional pada pasien hipertensi di RSUD Kota Depok. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kohort retrospektif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara retrospektif menggunakan data sekunder berupa rekam medis dan data primer yang diambil dari hasil wawancara pasien dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Subjek penelitian ini adalah pasien rawat jalan RSUD Kota Depok yang tidak menderita penyakit lain. Pasien yang bersedia diambil datanya berjumlah 104 orang yang dikelompokan menjadi pasien terapi konvensional (56 orang) dan pasien terapi kombinasi bahan alam (48 orang). Secara umum peserta penelitian adalah perempuan, kawin, berusia dibawah 60 tahun, tamat SMA, tidak mempunyai pekerjaan atau ibu rumah tangga, sudah mempunyai kesadaran untuk mengurangi konsumsi garam, berolahraga, dan menderita hipertensi tahap II. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terapi kombinasi bahan alam tidak memberikan efek bermakna terhadap tekanan darah.

Hypertension is a degenerative disease with high prevalence in Indonesia. Many patients combine conventional antihypertensive drugs with herbal medicine. This study is aimed to evaluate the effect of herbal medicine as conjunction with conventional antihypertensive drugs in hypertensive patients at Depok Town General Hospital. This study wa retrospective cohort study. Data was collected retrospectively using a quaestionnaire. The subjects were out-patients at Depok Town General Hospital who did not suffer other diseases. Patients who were willing their data to be collected were 104 people, and divided into conventional therapy (56 people) and herbal combination therapy (48 people). Ini general, the study participants were female, married, aged below 60 years, graduated from high school, unemployed or a housewife, already have the awareness to reduce salt intake, exercise and suffering stage II hypertension. The results of this study showed that the combination therapy with herbal medicine does not provide significant effect on blood pressure.
