"The theoretical framework and objectives of a study of environmental change and evolving household livelihood strategies, which will include field work in Central Java, are outlined. Preliminary results of previous, related field work in Luzon, the Philippines, and highland Ecuador are reported. Two changes that seem of importance in both areas so far studied are the increasing importance of commercial farming in central locations and the decreasing intensity of use of land on the periphery of rural communities. Preliminary observations in Central Java suggest that household livelihood strategies are more diversified than in either case study area in the Philippines and Ecuador. The relative importance of farming and the use of natural resources does not seem to have diminished.

Anthropocene is an emerging issue which has been developed since 2000s. It is defined as an era where humans have significant impacts in the world globally. This concept is important to be reviewed further because anthropocene encourage new ideas that are compatible with the current world situation. This paper examine how IR rsquo s perspective to the anthropocene. There are three main points that are being examined, first, it sees that IR rsquo s perspective of anthropocene is dominated by security thinking in IR. Whereas, another IR thinking such as political economy, is also important to see anthropocene and its relation to concepts such as globalization, capitalism, and international cooperation in this era. Second, this paper also sees that the anthropocene itself emerge various criticisms for IR such as criticism of IR rsquo s core assumptions, paradigms, and IR rsquo s views to the world. Third, anthropocene is also seen from the political dimension of IR. Through this perspective, anthropocene is seen as global political phenomenon that has various implications for international politics. In conclusion, anthropocene is a concept that has become part of IR because of its relevance between the two. Nevertheless, the discussion of anthropocene in the IR is still relatively limited and still dominated by the security thinking in IR."

""With the advent of multinational corporations, the traditional urban service function has 'gone global.' In order to provide services to globalizing corporate clients, the offices of major financial and business service firms across the world have generated networks of work. It is the myriad of flows between office towers in different metropolitan centres that has produced a world city network. Taylor and Derudder's unique and illuminating book provides both an update and a substantial revision of the first edition that was published in 2004. It provides a comprehensive and systematic description and analysis of the world city network as the 'skeleton' upon which contemporary globalization has been built. Through an analysis of the intra-company flows of 175 leading global service firms across 526 cities in 2012, this book assesses cities in terms of their overall network connectivity, the regional configurations they form, and their changing position in the period 2000-12. Results are used to reflect on cities and city/state relations in the context of the global ecological and economic crisis. Written by two of the foremost authorities on the subject, this book provides a much-needed mapping of the connecting relationships between world cities, and will be an invaluable resource for students of urban studies, geography, sociology and planning"--"
